Can you taste the eggs?
OK. So, I guess technically, I'm lacto-ovo, but I don't drink milk, I don't buy eggs, and have nearly narrowed my cheese consumption to the weekly cheese pizza with the boys.
So, last week at school, some teachers brought food for the faculty. There was this coffee cake, and I ate some. I figured it wasn't vegan, but then again, neither am I! ;D So I ate it. I SWEAR I could TASTE eggs in it.
I've prodded my brain, and I think the last time I consumed eggs was about a month and a half ago in some cupcakes, and before that I can't even recall. I haven't eaten eggs right out for at least 6 months.
I told my friend about it, and she didn't believe me. Not trying to be rude...but just said she thought it was in my head. Anyone else experience this? I've never tasted eggs in baked goods. Did this cake just have too many eggs?
I can taste eggs in things usually (only to, hem, read the label again and see that they have eggs). Maybe when you stay away long enough you become more sensitive to their taste (I didn't think anything tasted egg-y before being vegan).
i can taste eggs and cream cheese in things. my BF had me try his mom's Peanut Butter Pie once and from the first bite i knew there was tons of cream cheese in it, but i hate most of the small slice anyway (until he started saying "haha the first ingredient is cream cheese!"), but that much cream cheese makes me ill.
and he also had me try his mom's lemon squares as well, which i didnt want to try cuz i knew it was mostly eggs and its too much of a metalic taste for me. i had one tiny bite and had to spit it out. i dont know what it is about eggs in that kind of form but it just tastes like i'm licking metal.
I don't eat things with eggs in them, I check labels. but when I'm around food (especially baked goods) that have a lot of butter in them, I can TOTALLY smell it. the scent of butter is SO strong - and not appealing.
Yeah especially when I used to eat coconut custard pie.
mm so far i havent had any " accidents " with eggs... mostly butter.. and i can taste it as the first lil bite.. lol
