New vegetarian in Iowa

Hello all! I've decided to become a vegetarian after all these years of being a meat eater. I'm working my into at a reasonable pace and expect to finished with meat in just a few days (I have groceries leftover and hate to waste them). I have slowly weined myself of eating meat on daily basis since December 2011. I've always loved veggies but there are a few staples crops in this lifestyle that I seriously will never like, for example onions and bell peppers. Hate'em! I've been making myself eat tomatoes but I just can't get into the uncooked ones. On the bright side, I love beans, lentils, and nuts.

Congratulations on making the transition! Don't worry if there are certain veggies you don't like. I was a vegetarian for 21 years and have been vegan for 2 years and I still don't like green bell peppers, but I love eating the red, yellow and orange ones raw. The wonderful thing about being a vegetarian is that you have so many veggies to choose from; onions and bell peppers aren't necessary. Keep up the great work and, again, i applaud for making the move to being vegetarian.
