Hmm...  should I introduce myself or should I pick someone to stalk?  ;)

I think I'll just go ahead and introduce myself-

My name is Cristina.  I'm 30.  I've been a vegetarian for almost one year.  It was no problem at all quitting the meat since I only ate chicken, turkey and fish.  The only real problem was telling my DH. (I really hope DH means husband.  I'm a bit new at this!)  He was not happy because in his opinion a meal is not complete without some kind of meat and white starch.  Ew.  Ever since stumbling upon this website I've toyed with the idea of becoming vegan.  I don't know if I could go all the way, but I have made some changes in my diet.  I haven't eaten yogurt in about six months, and I used to eat at least a cup every day.  Surprisingly, it hasn't been too hard to give up.  I also no longer buy cheese for myself, and will often ask for food without it at restaurants.  And eggs, I'm in the process of phasing them out.  But ice cream.  Oh, ice cream.  That one is difficult.  Will I survive if I never again eat Ben and Jerry's Chubby Hubby ice cream?  I really don't know.
So that's me and my veg journey.
I've been married for seven years and work as an educational sign lanuage interpreter.
I have to say, I'm very excited to join vegweb.  I've really enjoyed lurking here the past couple years. (yes, it's taken me that long to get up the nerve to post!)

Hi.  I'm glad you've stopped lurking and have started posting.  I have a couple of thoughts.

About yogurt.  It's a staple of mine.  I sprinkle some cut grains, cut flax seed, a powdered multivitamin/mineral/protein, and blueberries on Whole Soy & Co. soy yogurt most mornings.  If you start missing yogurt, Whole Soy is the soy yogurt that's closest to the dairy type.

About ice cream.  The most dairy tasting soy ice cream is Tofutti.  The vanilla is awesome.  If you're looking for ice cream with stuff mixed in, So Delicious makes flavors like Mocha Fudge.  Some So Delicious flavors are heavy on the aftertaste (like the mint one), but the Mocha Fudge is pretty good.

I never did like eggs or cheese.  I gave those up long before I gave up meat.

It's a bit too weird for me to welcome you.  You've been lurking longer than I've known about this site.  I knew about the recipes, but because I didn't have a recipe question, I never bothered checking the Recipe Q&A part.  I accidentally stumbled upon it when I hit the wrong tab.

Thanks for the ideas, Humboldt_Honey.  I'll have to give Whole Soy & Co. yogurt a try.  One thing I've found that satisfies my yogurt craving is something I call cashew mango cream.  I blend together cashews, a bit of water, vanilla, agave nectar, and frozen mangoes until it becomes thick like yogurt.  I like to layer it with sliced fruit and wheat germ in the mornings.  But when I'm in a hurry I think soy yogurt will do the trick.

Okay, so I got a wave hello from stuckeymom - 0 posts.  Which means you're a lurker.  We want you to be a poster!  This is a great thread to do it.  Come on, you know you want to.    ;D

I'm a Whole Soy & Co. fan, too. My favorite thing to do with it is blend the apricot mango with frozen mango to make a mango lassi. Very nice.  :)
