Brand spankin' new!

Hello! I've just started transitioning to a vegetarian diet (lacto-vegetarian) and was so excited to find this website! I've been a meat-eater my whole life, but have been thinking about going vegetarian for a while. I took a trip to visit some family in west Texas recently and after seeing the feed-lots full of cattle I can't stomach meat anymore. I was horrified!  I am still including dairy in my diet for now, but I'm probably going to phase that out, too. I pick only organic dairy from grain fed cows, but since I can't tour every farm, I don't necessarily trust it. I just thought it would be best for me to do this in stages rather than go cold turkey. It actually hasn't been that hard of a transition, but I do miss fish. Any suggestions on that one? Thanks!!

Welcome!  Good luck.  Always hated fish so can't help you there.  Sometimes we just have to accept that for the sake of the animals and planet we're just going to have to do without the things we used to love and find new things.  I'm that way about cheese.  There are simply no alternatives and dairy cows have a cruel life, so I accept I can do without.  There are some many wonder recipes to try I don't even miss it.
