You are here

I made that!! The official sharing/bragging thread.

We all seem to talk about and (sometimes) post pictures of our creations. Well here I am to call you all out!!  8-)

I want to see what you've cooked, sewn, painted, drawn, written (well, maybe a link to this one, if it is long), what-have-you! Even if you think it is horrible, we (or rather, I) WANT to see it!!

I'll start it off with my first adventure into the art of gluten free baking.

http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs153.snc1/5688_136809863697_563808697_3293594_6807462_n.jpg

Its not the greatest, by any means, I heavily modified an old betty crocker recipe to the point where I think no one would recognize it.... 3 layer Banana Coconut gluten free vegan pirate ship cake with gluten free vegan banana cream and chocolate banana cream frostings. I still have to work on making the densities more 'uniform'/no breakage or cracking....

That's so awesome hanashi!  Are those pretzels around the edges?

I would post a picture of the lap quilt I've been working on, but I'm too embarrassed.  I don't actually know how to quilt so I'm kind of making it up as I go.

don't be embarrassed Storm. I.Want.To.See.It!!

I was nearly in tears when the bow started sinking/breaking away from the rest of the ship/cake. If I had the chance/time to redo it, I would have thrown it out. I'm still not happy with the end result, but everyone else was impressed.

Yes, those are pretzels on the 'planks' of the ship...gluten free. It was definitely a learning experience. When I'm done with finishing off the edges of my purse (which was done free hand, my first attempt.) I'm going to post it.

I also want to see this dresser Sarah!!

So come on people, ante up!!

Heh, i'll get a picture of the dresser!! i was just thinking of that actually. The batteries in our camera are dead and the phone pictures i took make it look poopy, but when i find batteries (which i think i have) i shall take about 100000 pictures of things to fill up this thread. haha.

Okay, but I'm not posting a close up.  It looks okay from a distance.....basic, but okay.  Close up you can see that the stitches aren't exactly even or of the same length but in my defense, I'm doing it by hand.  My great grandmother has quilts in the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City and she's probably rolling over in her grave at mine.  Hers are all hand quilted of course, but they are so perfect they almost look like they were done on a machine.  I didn't have any of that stuff you put between the top and bottom so I used a cut up old blanket in the middle and I have no idea how I'm supposed to finish the edges.  I cut the bottom sheet larger than the blocked piece so I could fold it over the edges in case I couldn't figure out anything else to do.  I know there are real quilters here on VW and I ask that you laugh quietly.

120 i think. But, the green chicken was the best one, i've made, it even had feathers and they were neon and cool. And no M+Ms because i had some better method. And i dont have a picture of it, or the cake i made this year which was like, the best cake ever. It was a land judging cake, it had a slope and at the bottom there was hole dug, the cake was in layers of different types to show the soil profile and it was like, crazy cool. Buttttt. Here are 2 chickens from different years and a sandman (or yellow snow man, heh)

My dear child, it's gorgeous! And don't worry about the uneven bits. Not one of my quilts is actually a fair rectangle and I've made several. Using the blanket is part of the finest tradition of quilters; you use what you have to make something out of nothing. That's what it was really all about before it became a moneymaking industry.

If I could figure out a way to upload photos I would post one of my quilts.
