You are here

I made that!! The official sharing/bragging thread.

We all seem to talk about and (sometimes) post pictures of our creations. Well here I am to call you all out!!  8-)

I want to see what you've cooked, sewn, painted, drawn, written (well, maybe a link to this one, if it is long), what-have-you! Even if you think it is horrible, we (or rather, I) WANT to see it!!

I'll start it off with my first adventure into the art of gluten free baking.

Its not the greatest, by any means, I heavily modified an old betty crocker recipe to the point where I think no one would recognize it.... 3 layer Banana Coconut gluten free vegan pirate ship cake with gluten free vegan banana cream and chocolate banana cream frostings. I still have to work on making the densities more 'uniform'/no breakage or cracking....

Nice.  Is the button Irish themed, too?

The cupcake apron I finished up yesterday for my daughter.  The poodle skirt I made last year for a play she was in (Bye Bye Birdie).

Storm, at the risk of sounding like a creeper (since I believe I've said this at least twice before), I must say again: Your daughter is frickin' gorgeous! I do hope she realizes this....Y'know, in a not-conceited-but-rather-confident sorta way.

Excellent job on the apron AND the skirt. Yea-yuh!

Here is the back story: my bf has a friend named Thomas, whom I have met only once (he lives in Seattle), but who I think is awesome. We are friends on facebook and I enjoy reading his random status updates, which usually have to do with science (he's a microbiologist), general geekery, or eating fruit. He is gay and Chinese-American and just an interesting character. So I decided to start making comics about him. I've never made comics before, but I like how my first one turned out. It's probably better if you know him, but hopefully it's still fun even if you don't. I basically quoted his facebook statuses for this one.

I am almost finished with a t-shirt I was making for myself.  I made one just like it for the gift exchange and really liked how it came out so I decided to make one for myself.  I ran out of embroidery thread and that is why it is not finished

Practice fondant cake. Second time using fondant, first time making a bow out of fondant, which you can see on top. One of the 'ribbons' collapsed, so I took the pics from the other side of the cake. All in all, I think it looks pretty good, while far from perfect.

Nice.  I've been buying fondant tools when they're on sale, but I haven't tried making anything yet.  I like your result.

I'm in the process of making no-sew curtains. I have decided they need some embellishment, so I'll have to head back to the store to get some purdy frill or something for them. Will post pics!

Since I'm decorating on a budget, I made these "flowers" out of old sewing patterns I picked up at Goodwill for a buck. They are taped onto floral wire I have from cake decorating. I put them inside a glass I picked up at Goodwill, filled it with channa dal, urad dal and poppyseeds. I may switch it to a mason jar, though. I put them on a coaster I picked up at goodwill for like 50 cents. I may add a shelf in the bathroom to set them on.
Here's another angle: http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/7925/downsized1111010012a.jpg

And this is the curtain I made for my bathroom. It's my first time ever picking out fabric and trying to make anything out of it, so go easy on me! I think it needs some embellishment.. I'm thinking something along the lines of a trim like this: http://site.trimfabric.com/TrimFabric/2010/LT-168.JPG
Crafty Vegwebbers, what say you? Also, the rope is just an afterthought. I'm going to make a solid tie-down out of it. I just kind of threw it on there because the curtains needed some embellishment.

Very cool, SB.  What a unique use for old patterns.  Have you started raiding your landlord's microgreens yet?

I like the curtain fabric and color.  I don't have curtains because I can't find any I like.  Maybe I should follow your lead and head to the fabric store if my fabric store has anything nearly that cool.  Nice job, sb!

Did you do one panel per window and tie it in the middle, or is that one of multiple panels?
