ATC swap! thread - sign up here

This is a branch off of the artist trading cards thread

If you have questions about what to do and what this is about, please see the thread posted above.

This is a SIGN UP for our first round of swaps!  DUE MAY 10 in my HOT LITTLE HANDS

The themes are (you can pick 1 or more)

--People
--Animals
--Surprise (anything you want to make - it will be a surprise)

For each theme you want to do, you will send 3 cards and get 3 back. Hopefully there will be enough so I can swap you within theme but, if not, then you'll get a mix.

Cards need to be 2.5x3.5 inches. You can use any medium you wish. Please avoid heavy embellishments/thick cards (like 1/4 inch, not like cardstock). Please send stuff you are proud of. Most of us are not "artist" but the fun of doing ATCs is that we can share our unique artistic ways of doing things. Cards that are not to size will be returned to you.

Let us know in the thread which themes you are gonna make and send for. I set the due date in a little over a month.

ON THE BACK

On the back, please label the card with your name, user name (vegweb or ATCs or both), and the name of your card if you have one. You can also label it "vegweb swap" and the date so people can remember where the card was from.

If you have an account on atcsforall, let me know and i'll give you itrader feedback since you mailed to me.

MAILING
Once ready, MESSAGE ME for my address and send me your cards (see other thread for links).

Everyone: please send a LABEL with your address on it. I'll supply envelopes

US: please send postage equal to the cost to mail your envelop. 3 cards are 1 stamp, more cards might cost more. If you feel lazy or want to help with international postage, you can send me a $1 to cover your postage.

International: if you are outside the US, I'll pay to ship your stuff back.

Shortly after the deadline, I will swap around the cards and mail out the packages to people.

Quickie Reminders

-Everyone is welcome to play! Even if your work is "stick figures", if you put time and care into your work that's fine!
-If you have questions, check out the link above or send me a PM.

So who wants to play? I'll update this list as people sign up. i'm going to do a general list, no theme lists. but theme away!

I'd probably be able to get them to you by March 1st.

Are we going to have just one theme?  Or we could choose 3 themes and do one card for each theme?

I like the sunsets idea.  Also, I really liked doing the animals theme last time, but it was really broad.  I'd be interested in a more specific animal theme.  It could be super specific (owls) or still pretty general (birds).

I'll do itttt. geezeeeee.

ok you can chose whatever theme you want but I'm gonna do my own theme: pretend it was drawn by a quadriplegic camel

So, how does this sound for themes:  sunset, birds, quad-camels (aka anything goes)

The cards can all be from the same category or you can use multiple categories.

Any more theme ideas?

I'm actually pretty excited about this!  I need to go buy supplies of some sort, but have no idea where to go.

I want to make collages. And glittery things.I think all of mine might be glittery.  Yup.

I have a paper cutter and art paper, so I cut my own blanks.  Any thicker paper, like index cards, will do.  It doesn't even matter if one side is lined.

After that, you'll need charcoal pencils or colored pencils or ink pens or paint or collage images or whatever medium you're going to use.   I get mid-grade paint from a crafts store.  If there's a crafts store in your area, look for coupons.  My store usually always has a 40% sale and you can buy a pencil or paint kit, if you're going that route.

If you don't want to buy sports card sleeves, you can wrap your cards in plastic wrap or tape a piece of plastic sandwich bag around your cards.  Tape the wrapped cards to a piece of paperboard (cereal boxes and the like) and I'll transfer them over to proper sleeves.  You can get 100 sleeves for $1 at a sports card shop, but you may not want 97 spare sleeves and I have plenty.

yes that is the most sensible idea I have ever heard.

yeah, the problem is I don't even know of craft shops or anything in NZ.
It's getting really silly with not knowing where to buy things.  I even had to ask someone at work where to buy trainers (sneakers to you weirdos).  I had no idea where / what a sports shop was here!

So craft shops?  Yeah no idea.  It'll all work out in the end though.

Then I believe flying to Florida may indeed be sensible.

I forget where you're at, so go to Google Maps and type in "craft stores near ".

Do they have Spotlight stores in NZ?  That's the only craft store chain that I'm aware of here.  Otherwise you could go to somewhere like Target or a newsagent and they should at least have some basic art supplies (colored pencils, markers/texters, etc).  Last time I used index cards that were lined on one side, and cut them down to size.  I'll probably do it again this time.

So are we trying to get the cards to you by March 1st, or mailing them on March 1st?

Good question.  Mail them by March 1.
