The Vegetarian Myth...new book. GRRRRRR

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/UndergroundWellness/2009/10/08/The-Vegetarian-Myth-with-Lierre-Keith

This came across my facebook. It is so infuriating. Another one of those "I was vegan for 20 years and got so sick...blah blah blah"

You can listen to an interview with the author on this site.

i like the Bible... interpret it the way you choose, i think it has a great message for anyone reading it... not saying i am some perfect Christian person or anything =/

Amy, I love you, I do, but I have to disagree with you on this one. I don't want to attack YOU, but the BIBLE is where my issues lie. The bible preaches that men should have control over their wives and that if god isn't into what you're doing, he'll kill you. It tells us it's better to offer up your virgin daughters to be raped than a kind stranger, and it tells us that we have to be willing to murder our own children to prove our love of god. Sorry, that's fucked up. God is in a one way controlling relationship with these people!

I understand that you're a Christian, and I'm glad you have something that works for you. I just don't see the bible as something to be interpreted literally, and that's a problem that arises within churches, often leading to split sects.

VR I don't think everything in the Bible should be taken literally either! But enough about the Bible... And this stupid Vegetarian Myth book :P

Amy, have you had a chance to read this veggie myth book? I know you're trying to keep money away from the author and I respect that. I was thinking of picking up a copy at the library
to see what it includes.

I tried... I sprained my eyeballs, from rolling them so much... maybe I'll try again someday, once I have better vision insurance.  Prob'ly not... but, ya know... maybe. (grin! total lie. couldn't get past chapter 2, it was just too stupid! read excerpts thereafter, & several author interviews... convinced my poor eyeballs can't handle it!)

No I don't plan on reading it... I would rather use my time reading a book I actually want to read you know

I know it doesn't really matter, but I HATE that this book has 4 stars on Amazon.  How many friggin' idiots are there in the world?!  (Don't answer that.)

This book is about as hilarious as The Bible.

Amen.

The only way I can see the book being put to good use is as toilet paper. What a bunch of morons! Its unimaginable to think anyone would be so misinformed they would actually consider this book to contain factual information but then again Bush won two terms.    :(

Aw, man! you just HAD to remind me... been working on repressing that downer bit of historical info... (grumble grumble grumble) NOW, I have to start all over (grumble grumble)...

Ever notice how, sometimes, the stuff humans do just makes no m*****f***ing sense?!! The book (/presidency) in question = further evidence towards proving this hypothesis!

I just find it odd that there is a market for such a book. Like, do people really get ANGRY that other people are veg? Enough to buy a book about it? They perhaps need a new hobby. I'd like to see what this lady ate regularly. I don't eat the healthiest diet, I'm on my feet all day at work, and yet I still find it in me to, um, walk around and stuff.

...Sorry I'm late  :p

OK, this is not meant to attract flameage, but just think of what people DO get pissed and buy books about.  Religion, lifestyle politics, why not food?  There are folks out there who will get pissed off about who a perfect stranger is sleeping with, which gods they do (or don't) pray to, who they last voted for.  Why not get pissed at us for what we do (or don't) eat?  It's just like the kid who bullies other kids because he or she needs to feel better about him or herself.

Sometimes you're just sick, and your diet can help or hinder, but not cure.  My diet helps.  My doc and my dietitian approve.  ;)b  This is enough for me.

To the lady who wrote the book:

Just because you couldn't hang doesn't mean we can't.  As Billy Joel said, "You can cry in your coffee, but don't come bitchin to me."  *shuffles her feet like a dog kicking dirt over poo*
