Marijuana

What do you all think about it? I mean in general, your stance on drugs, if you smoke/ reasons you don't, etc. I really don't know what made me think of it, I just would like to know other peoples opinons of it. I was thinking of making it a pole, but I don't know how that would have worked out.

I'm anti drugs. All illegal drugs just encourage crime from petty crime to fund the habit, to organised crime to grow the plant on a mass scale. It's also a way for people to get rich quick (as long as they're not caught). Yeah, some people aren't affected much by it, but for others, it can ruin their lives and the lives of their loved one's who worry about them.

Someone close to me recently admitted they still smoke it contrary to what they originally told me. It irks me greatly as they already have a history of drug abuse and their body can only take so much damage.

Marijuana really helps my back pain, and got me sleeping normally again.

REALLY!?!?

I am suffering sleep deprivation and can only sleep at most 6 hours a night due to back pain.  I have no idea what to do about it, Tylenol does not seem to help (or any other OTC pain reliever).  The only thing I can do is sleep only 6 hours a night then take an hour nap during the day, but as a full time working mom I can't take that nap.

Now I really wish dope was legal if it does this!  I had never even considered that!

But I heard that California was talking about legalizing it so that they can tax it because the state is suffereing a huge deficit, or something like that.  Has anybody else heard that?

Then I thought, why can't we do that?  Legalize marijiwana so that the government can tax it, and can help to reduce or eliminate the federal deficit, and perhaps  lower taxes on the middle class?  I think it is a great idea!

Marijuana was the only thing that helped my insomnia. I went through an entire year of school and couldn't sleep. I tried just about everything, and nothing helped. Smoking finally helped, and it got me to stay on a regular sleeping schedule, which was the most helpful.

It definately relieves pain and relaxes me so I can sleep. I have not smoked weed since February 1 and I sleep about 4 hours, rarely get hungry and I am SO stiff in my neck and shoulders/ upper back. Those were the reasons I love smoking weed and it helps with anxiety I have.

I stopped because I promised myself that I would not smoke weed until I got  a new job.

They actually wanted to tax it as medical marijuana, which was an issue because other prescriptions aren't taxed (apparently out of principle, because if people need meds, they shouldn't have tax). So the tax kind of implied that medical marijuana wasn't really medical, but a luxury. Of course, if they legalized recreational marijuana, they could tax it easy.

Tweedle!!  You are my new girl crush.

As for as marijuana goes.... I think it should be legalized.  Being in the military, it is even against the rules to use/consume anything with hemp in it.

Glad people are talking about it. Living in denmark with christiania http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freetown_Christiania a place where you can buy marijuana it is illegal but.. its pretty open to do it.

I smoke sometimes, sadly i cant find it since my danis his terrible but there was  so many studies that compared holland to denmark and denmark- in particiular copenhagen had a higher amount of people that used marijuana that holland, more than double from memory.

It will never become illegal in the US i dont think, not completely... its hard to sell legally im sure once some crops would get stolen that would be the end of it all. It is lega in holland and i found mostly young american tourists smoking and not the locals. When something is made legal like marijuana is can also help people, those who use it for mental reason. I worked as a youth worker and have meet young people that smoke it to focus, they had really bouncy minds and they said it was better.
But it is also used for enjoyment like alcohol and tobacco.

Noone has mentioned caffine, such a serious problem.. causes seroius problems.. but its legal isnt it?
Im sure if marijuana was just used in cakes there would be no problems, its also how people associate marijuana with smoking. not everyone smoke marjuana and it doesnt have to be smoked!

That's a good point, ampallang. It can be vaporized for instance, or tinctures or in food. No smoking necessary. I think sometimes people forget that.

The caffeine issue is something that the biology faculty and I often discuss. From a biochemical point of view, one can overdose on alcohol and caffeine (both legal in US, and caffeine is regulated 0%), however overdosing on marijuana is physically impossible (relating to the way it affects the brain stem). Doesn't this seem odd?

I heard that the only reason marijuana is illegal in the US is because the government can't tax it for whatever reason.  I guess it is because it is so easy to grow that if it was legal that is what everybody would be doing, rather than just buying it for an un-godly jacked up price due to over-taxation.  I am not sure if that is true though.  Why is it illegal?  I would think alcohol is much more dangerous.  I never have heard of husbands coming home, high on dope and beating up their wives and kids.  Doesn't happen like that. Yeah, it can cause auto accidents because it slows your reflexes, but I know nobody who says that they get violent on dope.  Never.  I don't like alcohol because of what it has done to certain members of my family, but dope?  Nope, don't see the issue with that one.

There's a really good documentary about this...don't remember the name. But marijuana was perfectly legal until the 1930's or so when Harry Anslinger (some government guy) started a fear campaign by saying it made blacks and latinos rape white women and that it caused people to go insane and blah blah blah. Boom, its illegal. Well actually it was legal with stamps from the government....but the government never issued any stamps.

And yes, I have never heard of a violent pothead. But I think legalizing weed would not be a very good idea just because it would probably be a lot more expensive than it being illegal, because of taxes and crap and it would still be pretty easy to get the cheaper, untaxed stuff from your local weedman. I would be pretty happy with just decriminalization at this point.

I'm so glad you posted this, because I remember hearing about this a while ago, and I had forgotten the particulars. I'm going to look into finding the doc. Thanks!

Grass, narrated by Woody Harrelson deals mostly with this subject. Not sure if it's the one you're thinking about, but it's a good watch.

I'm going to suggest Hemp Revolution too. It looks at the whole plant holistically. Basically, we're idiots for not utilizing hemp in every way. Great documentary. I think it's better then Grass.

I think weed makes people dumb and lethargic. The only thing more lame than the drugs is those kids that sell that shit and dont even use it themselves, they just enjoy the profits. Scumbags.

That being said, I dont really understand why it is illegal considering the consequences of alcohol are probably worse. The whole "Drug War" thing is pointless, people need to make the choice stop being weak and escaping reality through the use of substances by themselves... the government cant enforce something like that.

For the past 2 plus months of my digestive issues, cannabis is the ONLY thing to succeed in bringing succor. Muscle relaxers, straight up morphine, ibuprofen, nothing else has been able to touch the spasms of pain I have been experiencing.

Imagine being kicked in the lower abdomen by a mule or head butted by a ram, followed by having electrodes implanted to send out jolts of current intermittently causing little convulsions in your bowels to spice up the continuous dull ache.... yeah it is kinda like that.

I have lots of clients who have medical marijuana cards and it is amazing how many things they are getting results with. The list is pretty  long. Have you tried Young Living oils, such as Di-gize or Copaiba. At our clinic these oils have helped our clients with the same issues. And they helped them instantly!

Plan on getting high tonight :) It's about time I get to experience some sort of altered state of consciousness.
