Norfolk, VA restaurants?

Hey, going to Norfolk VA for my bros wedding. Ill probally be there for about 5 days...Im going to bring some food along with me but wonder if there adn any good resturants there. I just checked the rest. recomendations on this site and there are none for that part of VA. I mean, Im sure I wont starve to death...theres alwasy subway, adn chinese places, and cheeseless dominos-- But, i dunno. It would be cool just to check one out. Thanks guys!

awww Norfolk...I miss it!!! My ex was in the navy and I used to visit all the time. I miss it so much. I loved walking on the beach of the Chesapeake Bay.

Anyway there is no shortage of restaurants. The local Olive Garden has at least one vegan entree on the menu and there are Chinese buffets. Also a Wal*Mart.

You MUST MUST MUST go to Bangkok Garden. You MUST. It is wonderful!!!! Plenty of vegan entrees. Please go!!!!! You will love it!!!

The Indian food is place is great to. Nawab Indian Cuisine.

Will you have time for museums? I can recommend one. I miss Norfolk. Take me with you!!!!

PETA is in Norfolk. You can stop by their cafeteria...it's totally vegan and quite awesome!  ;) I think in an older thread you mentioned that your sister now works for them.

On another note.......I'm now in Toledo OH.....NOT a very veggie friendly town I see.  :P I just went to Happy Cow this morning and all I found were four markets:

I'd love to be able to actually sit down in a place and eat...anyone know of any?

yeah, my sister just moved to norfolk and she got a job at PETA. i was so excited I posted something on here about it. Shes not vegan or even vegetarian- but I really hope this will--ehem...move her in that direction! :D

oh, i see you saw that... 8)

Maybe we can all pitch in to start a resturant in your home town. I vote we elect ashleykimball to run it!

I'm not living in Toledo...I'm just here on tour.....not that I have anything against this place.....it's just not the type of place I could ever picture myself living in....but I'll STILL say it's better then Texas! ::) (Sorry TinTexas)....

oh yeah, huh? of course I knew that. Wasn't thinking clearly. Been at work 15 hrs now.... :P

I've never had to eat in Texas , or Tolito for that matter(just layovers and such) but I can't imagine its much worse than missouri. They put meat in everything...In my college cafeteria, getting speghetti sauce without meat was not even an option (I feel compelled to mention that they wouldn't even make it after i spoke with them about my needs. I was pesco-ovo-lacto vegetatain at the time...)

One recipe from good ol' missourah, though- Dorrito salad. Yes, dorrito salad is a favorite at picnnics!

You marinarde dorritos in italian dressing over night so the get like wilted letece and then add bits of bacon...

ick- just the thought makes me sick...

Just got the e-mail from my friend up there.  Last visit we went to The Boot (as in like Italy).  Not vegan, but lots of vegetarian and vegan items.  It was wonderful (semi-nice place to eat- not a deli).  Kind of place you order a bottle of wine with your spaghetti squash with sweet potato gnochi.  And from what I remember, most of their menu is determined by what they got at the farmers market that day.

Have fun!
