Grocery stores in Vegas

Hi all!
We are leaving tomorrow for a week on Lake Powell and are flying into Las Vegas.  We were thinking that we were going to take our chances shopping at the Wal-mart in Page, AZ for food, but it just now occurred to us that...duh...we are flying into Las Vegas...let's buy food there.

I've got directions from the airport to the Trader Joe's, but there are several farmers markets and co-op's listed on the interwebs.  I'm sure I'll be fine no matter which I choose, but I don't want/don't have time to spend hours bouncing to and fro.  I know some co-ops are more vitamin/herbal in nature and I just don't need that for this trip.

Any recommendations?

I live in Las Vegas.  Farmer's Markets? Skip them...they're only held one day a week in each location and generally are more crafty than foody (to my dismay). Co-ops? Uh, wish some one would  have told me! What specifically are you finding in your search? I'm almost positive they would be more vitamin-intensive.

Trader Joes is fine. I don't know which address you have (there are 4 locations in the area), but the one at 10345 S Eastern Ave Henderson, NV 89052 would be the easiest to get from the airport on I-215 (don't know if you would have included that in your search because it's technically in Henderson)

Sunflower Market would be a good option (closest location to the airport is 3365 E. Tropicana Ave. Las Vegas, NV 89121). I do my regular grocery shopping at Sunflower.

There are two Whole Foods that are reasonable drives (less than 15 minutes - probably closer to 5-10 minutes, of course this assumes you know where you're going) if you don't mind freeway driving: 100 S. Green Valley Pkwy Henderson, NV 89052 and 6689 Las Vegas Blvd. Las Vegas, NV 89119

Fresh and Easy has some things like soy yogurt (I don't like their brand which is the only one they carry) and more vegan-y things than a regular grocery store, but less than say Trader Joes....there are lots of Fresh and Easy locations. Looking at their map, I'd say the easiest location to get to would be 4860 S. Eastern Ave. Las Vegas, NV 89119

I'd check out Rainbow's End Natural Food Store. It's expensive, but locally owned, isn't a chain, and has been there for over 3 decades. They have a really yummy cafe where almost everything can be ordered vegan (at least the last time I was there which has been a while unfortunately). Address is
1100 East Sahara Avenue, Suite 101 Las Vegas, Nevada 89104. Here is their website http://www.rainbowsendlv.com/index.htm

Hope this helps you!

These are the co-op I've found (most on your list): found at http://www.greenpeople.org/healthfood.htm

Rainbows End Health Foods - family owned and operated business that has been in town for over 30 years. (Las Vegas)
    • Stay Health Natural Foods - Health Food Store. (Las Vegas)
    • Sunflower Farmer's Market - Serious Food ,,, Silly Prices. (Las Vegas)

OK, I guess it's just a terminology difference - I wouldn't call Rainbows End a co-op (though worth visiting as I indicated) and Sunflower Farmer's Market is neither a co-op nor a farmer's market (I actually think they've modified their name now to just Sunflower Market). But like I said, Sunflower is where I do my regular shopping. Stay Health Natural Foods never heard of or been - so no advice there but I'll check it out sometime.

OK, I guess it's just a terminology difference -

Yeah, I googled "co-op Vegas" I got the health food link I indicated above and I said co-op, but really that is it's own thing.  I just meant "a place where I know I can buy the things I like to eat."  and generally speaking, co-op's do.
Thanks for all the advise.  I've got TJ's and Sunflower on my itinerary.
