Colorado peeps: front range, CSU region...
Advice, por favor! Any new vegan/v-friendly places in the general vicinity of Greeley/Loveland/Ft. Collins? I'm going for a nice relaxing stay at mom's house, but haven't been back in like a year... I'm really really hoping that some herbivore miracle has happened and my options will have increased... please someone tell me there's something more than Star of India and whatever randomness can be found on College in Ft. Collins. How about grocery stores? King Sooper (for those not familiar, I swear that's correctly spelled) and Safeway usually fail to impress me, and the only place I've been that has even a few things I use is an odd little store off of 34 in Greeley, somewhere around the KMart. Anything new? Safeway install some huge vegan department staffed 24 hours by shirtless stockboys bearing soycheese samples on golden toothpicks? yes? please? anything?
Failing that, if you know of any good veg places to go out to eat or shop (except Whole Foods... but that's another story) in the greater north-central region, do tell.

ahhh I know, Boulder is one of my favorites too, if I weren't so far away/cheap I would spend all my time there :'(
things looked promising for a while, but I guess the northern front range is just going to be a really hard place to be vegan.. then again, the depression highway that is Greeley/Loveland isn't exactly known for its "forward thinking," what with being owned by Swift meatpacking..mehh. :-\

I live in Fort Collins and find it to be very vegan-friendly. There is actually a new restaurant in Old Town called Tasty Harmony and everything is vegan except for one salad that has cheese. The food is FANTASTIC and pretty reasonably priced.
There is also The Rainbow and Avogadro's Number near CSU that are vegetarian and vegan-friendly (Avo's makes their own tempeh and has awesome chili). Many of the local restaurants will whip up something vegan or alter an existing menu option. Beau Jo's downtown (a CO pizza chain) has vegan cheese (Follow Your Heart) and lots of veggie toppings. Coopersmith's (a local pub and brewery) has vegan chili, burgers, sandwiches, pizza, and a select number of other entrees. And they have delicious homemade applesauce!
As far as grocery stores, there is a Whole Foods on College, a local co-op downtown with a great bulk selection, and a Sunflower Market at Drake and Lemay. The Safeway on College and Mulberry has a few vegan options (tofu, mock meats) and carries some Amy's Organics products.

I strongly second Watercourse Foods! We went there for brunch this weekend and it was FANTASTIC! They make their French toast with banana bread (delicious) and my BF had a seitan sandwich with onion rings and those are the best damn onion rings in the whole world! Definitely worth going to and it's reasonably priced for the large amount of fantastic food you get. Everything is vegetarian and everything can be made vegan (most items already are vegan except for a few with cheese or their breakfast egg options). SO, SO GOOD!
