Bj's Restaurant & Brewery???

Hey everyone,

My job is taking us out to a lunch party at Bj's rest.  Question is: is anything there vegan?  I know they have pizza's that i could get w/o cheese and jsut veggies, but what about the crust...i cant find any nutritional break down of anything...Can anyone help? thanks, the lunch is tomorrow, ekkk.

omg i would so love to know this as well! they r everywhere around here! i emailed them this:

"I noticed you have menu options listed that are acceptable for a vegetarian diet... What about a vegan diet (Products that DO NOT CONTAIN ANY animal or insect derived ingredients)? I absolutely love your restaurant but as a new vegan, I cannot visit your establishment until there is something I can eat. Please help! I will post your response to my question on the most popular vegan website: vegweb.com,  thank you so much for your valuable time!"

Hopefully they have a good response and don't beat around the bush like many restaurants do! And i hope they can get back to me soon!  How annoying that they don't even have a phone number you can call listed on their website!

hey amy, i got a really lame response from them, here it is:

Thank you for your email.  We are always able to modify a majority of our menu items to meet the needs of our guests.  For Vegan requests we recommend you consult with your server but here are a few suggestions: Field of Greens Salad, no feta, substitute oil and vinegar as your dressing; Garden Vegetable Baked potato, without cheese or Alfredo sauce; House salad, no croutons, with oil and vinegar; and of course, our signature pizza crusts do not contain any animal products and can be made without cheese.

i they also have a gluten free pizza which im not sure if it has any animal products but it would be good to know...when i went i had a pizza sans the cheese and ajust a bunch of veggies on it.

Here's the response i received. I had asked specifically about the pizzas, veg burger, soups, etc.
:-X
Hello Kim,
Our flatbread pizza crust is vegan our deep dish may contain milk and soy. Unfortunately most of our menu items must be modified to ensure it is vegan. Salads without dressing, cheese etc. I am sorry we do not have too many options available but you may order pasta with no cheese which is another option.
Please do not hesitate to ask any manager for any other specifics on items as they will be able to check labels and boxes in the restaurant.
I wish I could provide more information and we are working to have complete nutritional information on-line shortly.
Sincerely,
Beth

That's cool that at least the pizza crusts are vegan.  BJ's is fun.  And it's called BJ's, which makes me laugh, because I'm 12.  It's getting hard to hide my irritation when the only vegan thing on a menu are plain vegetables, though.  Not so much an issue in LA, but any trip to Vegas usually involves 3 days of oil/vinegar salads and my stash of Lara bars.

There are a few options in Vegas, you just have to search a little harder for them and/or not mind paying $30 for a plate or two of vegetables at a buffet.  Most restaurants will accommodate for you.  I always just travel to Vegas with a hardcore carnivore wolf pack, which is fine because I love Lara bars.  With my beer.  And don't forget about the vegan deep fried oreos at Mermaid's Casino ;)

This looks amazing and has been bookmarked for my next trip (hopefully in the next few weeks...i'm getting ansy...)

And you can never go wrong with Chipotle :)

I was just at BJ's tonight and scoped out the vegan situation. I had my server check and she said the flatbread pizza crust contains eggs, so that's not vegan. Also their veggie patty contains eggs as well so both of those are not vegan.

I think the safest item on there and what i ordered is the Angel Hair Toscana but order without feta, parmesan and garlic bread. -
"Our delicate angel hair pasta tossed with olive oil, garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, fire-roasted red peppers, fresh basil, feta cheese, pine nuts, Roma tomatoes and topped with fresh Parmesan cheese and parsley."

I also ordered a salad which is easy to exclude the cheese and stuff. I suppose you could also order chips and salsa though their tortilla chips are multi-colored so that may or may not be an issue for you.

Oh, and their beer is good to go. I drank lots of beer and the BJ's by me isn't in a cool enough area to be serving cask ales so all of their beers should be vegan.

I get the HUGE baked potato topped w veggies, and I sub tomato sauce on top (instead of the alfredo offered on the menu).  I think their minestrone soup is veg, too!

Hey everyone,
I am a server at BJ's restaurant, and newly trying to cut out dairy from my vegetarian diet, and I wanted to clear something up about the pizza at BJ's. The actual deep dish pizza dough is indeed vegan, BUT the catch is that they use a mixture of olive oil and butter in the bottom of the pan, and on top of the dough. I think that it is very misleading that the corporate office is saving the deep dish pizza is vegan, because there's no way around the butter mixture that they use (ie the server cannot just modify it to have them make it without this).

As I continue to figure out more things I can eat, I will post on this thread. So far I have been eating the pasta. I'm going to figure out whether or not the gluten-free pizza dough has dairy in it. And also in response to someone, the minestrone soup is not vegan, it's actually not even vegetarian! It is made with beef broth  :-\

I hope someone reads this, and it helps!

I'm relieved that it appears they have regular crust.  I love love love love love love love deep dish crust with passion and vigor, but I rarely let myself eat white flour.
