Wanted to share how incredible yummy this is...kiwiberry

I bought these at Trader Joe's also called passion poppers. They are sweeter than kiwi's no fuzz, small like grapes and taste AMAZING! Expensive though.  Never heard of them before but they are considered nutritional powerhouses. Here's their link in case your interested. Tastes tropical and I feel so healthy after eating them!

I can't find the link anymore, but there was a story on some organic farming magazine site which talked about lesser-known but fantastic fruits. The upside to the kiwiberry is, I believe, that it is fairly suitable to northern climates (I think I read Zone 4, which would be fantastic!).

Why are they not produced? It's beyond me, really. It's just one of the countless veggies/fruits/grains which seem to have been phased out in favor of the standard role call (go to any grocery store, you'll see the same old stuff with a few exceptions). The good news, I guess, is that this seems to be changing. The question is: will new farmers just monocrop these as well, increasing the chances for natural pest resistances to be broken and hence the need for pesticides?

I hope they can be locally grown!! it's really such a shame that fruit and veggies from all over the world are being shipped thousands and thousands of miles just so people can have whatever they want any time of the year!! it's horifically wasteful in terms of fuel/transportation/labor etc, and the produce is just NOT fresh! but these fruits you're describing sound yummy, so if I come across any that are locally grown I will be sure to try them!
