soy milk powder?

Hey, I love the cheap, natural soymilk--not that Silk stuff.  I was wondering if anybody uses soymilk powder to make their own soy milk?  What do you think about it?  How does it compare?

I would like to, to save money and all....but not if it's too foul.

I keep some around for cooking emergencies, but I wouldn't drink it. :P

I agree! Even for cooking, making your own almond or cashew milk only takes a few mins and is quite tasty!

Arent there lots of dangers associated with soy produts?

Hi Mrs.Mazz!
I've never made any of my own milks before, and one day when I have the guts, I'll try!
Regarding the link you posted, I mean absolutely no disrespect in any way, but I looked around and found this on the site regarding being a veg/vegan:

Quote:
I completely understand the ethical and ideological reasons why a person would wish to be vegetarian, and can't argue with any of them. But the health reasons are a different story. There are many people who keep very good health on a vegetarian diet. But you only have to visit the blood type diet website to hear many first hand stories from people who have passionately believed in their vegetarian lifestyle, only to fall ill with a variety of chronic diseases. When they start eating meat again, usually after a lot of difficult soul searching, their health returns.

I have yet to meet a vegan that went back to a meat based diet that got healthier gnawing on rotting flesh.

I'll stick with all the facts regarding soy from www.pcrm.org

I personally only eat, or use products with organic and non-GMO soy.

For some fun, scroll back and look at some of the topics I posted here regarding the so called "danger of soy" ...well at least I find them funny......

I love it. it's cheap and can store for ages. it's very convinient to use in pancakes. XD I never use it for drinking, because I hate the taste of plain milk anyway. I don't mind it in recipies though..

I've been using it as a powered "creamer" for my coffee in the AM.  I put my coffee in an insulated mug & if I use the liquid stuff, it would cool my joe prematurely...
I wouldn't drink it as "milk" though.

I'm interested in making my own solk (etc) milk, but....
where so you guys buy raw soy beans???  I'm in NYC, so I'm sure it is possible for me to find...but I haven't seen them in any groceries or health-nut stores I've been in lately.

I actually live way-the-heck-up in the Bronx now, after years of being in the Fort Tryon - Washington Heights area.  I work on the upper East side, but I'm switching day jobs VERY soon...And I'll be on the West side, near Manhattan School of Music & Columbia.  I have a feeling I will be able to find a few good stores  there.  Fairway may have them...but I haven't made that trek in a while.  (Basically I'm LAZY...)  ::)
