Soy curls as substitute for seitan?

I recently tried soy curls for the first time.  I used them in the Courico Tacos from Vegan Brunch.  (Very yummy.) The recipe stated that if you didn't have soy curls you could substitute seitan.  Does anyone know if the reverse is true?  If I found an interesting seitan recipe could I sub soy curls?
Thanks!

Why not! I think they would work (texture wise) in pretty much anything you want to throw them in. It would depend on the recipe/dish, but you could rehydrate them with seasonings accordingly. I dunno about a soy curl sandwich, but other than that..actually a soy curl sandwich would also work.

It would work but I think seitan is much denser. The texture would be different. I do think in stirfry type dishes it would be legit. Have you tried making seitan? It would be much cheaper than buying Soy Curls all the time (You can only order them online right?!)

The problem is I can't have seitan.  I need to avoid gluten.  So I usually skip any recipe that calls for seitan.  When I saw the seitan as soy curls alternative in one recipe I thought maybe this means I can start looking at all those seitan recipes in my cookbooks now.  Think of this as opening up possibilities.

well if that's the case go for it! i just think soy curls might not work as planned in some recipes simce seitan can be really dense and "beefy"... soy curls remind me more of "chicken" and also work as "tuna" salad
