Ughh! This is so annoying! My recipes are gone, and the interface on the main page is changed so it's harder to read! I'm not too pleased about this... >:(

Hi, we're working on converting old Recipe Boxes to the new format. I'll touch base in a couple hours to let you know if conversion will work. If it won't work, I can email you a the links to the recipes in your box.
It will take some time, but all of the recipe categories will have sub-categories again. Also, recipes submitted with usernames will have the from lines changed so that those usernames appear in the category indexes instead of "admin".

Hey, yeah, I'm really confused. ??? I didn't have a recipe box, but what's with the new format? It makes it very hard to find things. For example, there aren't sub-categories, and when you look at a recipe, there aren't any ratings! I'd like to see what previous users thought of a recipe, and when going into a particular category (i.e. desserts), it was so nice to have the sub-categories "Five-Star Dessert Recipes", "Cookies," "Cakes," etc. I can't find anything!! My vote (not that it counts) is to go back to the old way :-\

There will be sub-categories of recipes today, but it will take a little will to re categorize them all.
Recipes can be rated as before, but the old ratings weren't transferrable. When a recipe is rated, the rating will show both in the category list of recipes as well as the recipe itself. You can sort recipes by rating, alphabetically, etc. Click on the word RATING in white (in Appetizers, for example) to sort by recipe rating (after a few have been rated).
New recipes, new recipes reviews and new Q&A posts will all show up in the section titled "New Recipes, Reviews and Q & A Posts" on the homepage.

I also much preferred the old format. Why the change? I loved Vegweb the way it was!

I also liked the old way better. It's kinda cumbersome to find recipes. Yvette, is it possible to put them in alphabetical order w/in each category? Are they currently arranged chronologically (by date posted)?

I must agree that the old format was great the way it was. The loss of all the ratings should be incentive enough to revert to the old format (if the ratings are even recoverable). What are the real benefits to this change, anyway? And are they worth all the obvious new shortcomings?

The ratings/comments are the best part of this site--they always help me decide what to make. Here is a suggestion to everyone reading this board: go through all recipes that you have prepared in the past and give a rating to them. Maybe we can start building the ratings back up again. At least the comments are still there.

also, I really dislike that new Recipe Q & A comments are appearing on the home page...now it will be much more difficult to keep up with new recipe comments. It's not that I don't appreciate the free service, but it IS irritating to be constantly advertised at. I respectfully register my dislike of the changes taking place on this site.

I too am sad the ratings are gone. I am trying to find a good stew recipe *today* and all the ratings aren't here. The ratings and comments were the reasons I got my recipies here and not just attempting to veganize recipe source or recipe zaar ones :/
Is the old info totally gone? Maybe as a little footnote an admin could add all the old comments plus a little blurb saying 'as of March 20th this was 5 stars with 20 votes' or something? It would help some. It might take a good long while to get believable ratings back for most of the things :(

okterok, audrophenia, VeganLauren, curiale and one - your Recipe Boxes have been converted to the new system. Please allow another day or so for any grocery lists.
okterok, the old commments are listed within each recipe. Also, the recipe ratings have been added.

If we can't have the old format back can I please have my recipe box back?
:'(
I want to be supportive, but my recipes are gone, I can't find anything and the new format takes forever to load. :-\
I spend a lot of time here, I buy things from the advertisers and direct other people to this site all the time, but I'm feel a lot less enthusiastic aabout it right now.
Why has the format been changed? ???

Hi, your recipe box has been converted over to the new format. The reasons why we switched formats: 1) not so much the format that you see, but the way in which the recipes are stored in a database: once everything is finishe'd being setup, it's much easier to maintain, since pages are generated dynamically based upon databse values 2) commenting system is handled by discussion board script, 3) users can delete and edit their comments on their own without admin intervention.
Thank you for supporting VegWeb in the past. We'll work on the speed and other factors.

Does this also mean the speed will recover soon? Last night I waited almost half an hour to load the muffin section before I gave up. :/
