Low altitude recipe testers???

Hi all,
I am just finishing up a vegan cookbook with over 200 recipes, and I have been testing them all at high altitude (I live at 7500 feet in SW Colorado). I would like to verify that my modifications are correct at other altitudes before I publish, and since I think that the people using this site are generally good-hearted, trustworthy people I was thinking of asking if anyone would like to proof some of my recipes and give me feedback.
If so, could you please note your e-mail address in the reply, and once I get a good group together, I will e-mail you a list of the recipes in question.
NOTE: I am NOT asking you to test 200 recipes!! Just a few would be of great help!!! :)

In case you are wondering, here are some examples of the recipes I most want to check:

Lemon Poppyseed Muffins with Lemon Zest Glaze
Chocolate Decadence Cake
Mexican Fiesta Rice ( for water content)
Multigrain & Flax Banana Bread
5 Grain & Whole Wheat Bread
Lemon Cake with Lemon Zest Buttercream Frosting
Rosemary Herb Pizza Crust

Here is my website if you want more info before giving out your e-mail address:

As I am this month's featured chef on vegcooking.com, I really want to get this done as soon as I can, since the orders are coming in.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! :)>>> :)>>>

I'm interested. Sent you a message with my email adress

sure I'd love to help :).. I am right at sea level in the caribbean, so thats a pretty big difference from where you are ;) and if it works here Im sure it works anywhere.. I dont have access to everything available in the US, but I can let you know if I cant get something here.. the main things that are hard to get here are egg replacer, tofu, some herbs/spices, and whole wheat flour.. I will still help as best I can tho..

Thanks everyone!!!

I really, really appreciate it. I have been stressing over this, and finally decided to try the good people at VegWeb.

I have really been trying to make the ingredients used in my book pretty accessible to all, so I think you should be able to make lots of these items, Oktokrewl. But, wow! You can't get tofu? Madness.

Oh, and FYI, I am going to mention your names (if you want me to, of course!) in the book along with a few other recipe testers (that I think have finally gotten sick of helping me test recipes!). So, you have that going for you....

cool, that would be awesome to be mentioned in the book :).. i will also definitely take some pictures of the stuff i test and send them to you  ;)b

and yeah.. once in a while i can get tofu here, its just very rare.. i just eat lots of beans and nuts instead hehe.. but the tofu here comes in a can... it is extra firm and is like 8 - 2" pieces floating in water.. Ive never seen it sold like that anywhere but here.. but hey, tofu is tofu I'm not complaining ;) the same thing goes for wheat flour, they have it, its just very rare

Thanks, all!!

Baypuppy, I just want to see if maybe one or two more people want to volunteer and then I will send out the e-mail.

But, you all are impressing me with your ambition so much that I may just consider you the group and go ahead. I think I will plan to mail you the recipes by the end of the week though for sure.

Just wondering everyone (since I have a lot of recipes that need testin), are there any recipes you would particularly like to test? (such as bean dishes, muffins, etc.) Basically, I need baked goods tested and other things checked for water content and proper time frames (supposedly we need to use more water up here and cook things longer). I am really trying to be a perfectionist about my book, since I think too many cookbooks are hard for new cooks to master (due to vagueness, etc.).

For reference, my chapters include:
easy (everyday) entrees
special entrees
sides
apps
desserts
salads
soups
raw
breakfast items
misc. items & breads

Thanks all!! I am so glad to have the help!!
:)

p.s. anyone who doesn't plan to write a cookbook, feel free to submit a recipe to be included in the book if you like, obviously to be credited to you!

I'd be interested.  I used to live in Colorado (outside Denver), now I'm at sea level in Australia.
I don't have the most reliable oven though, so you should probably give me some stove top or no-bake recipes if you have them.  I won't be able to give super accurate feedback on oven temp and baking time.

I'm pretty much at sea level near the  Florida coast.  If you need any more help, I'd be most happy to volunteer.

Thanks so much!!!
I am planning to send out an e-mail to my lovely volunteers this coming Thursday. I am so excited!!!
Thanks again! :)

p.s. my book is in "word", so I am going to attach the recipes that way. I hope that works for everyone.

Baking definitely, special entrees sounds fun, sides are doable.  The things from your first post were what caught me.  I would totally try out all those.  haha

I am willing to help, but I'm in Montana..so we're almost/kind of near the same elevation..I'm in a valley though..
You have my email! : )

Do you know what your altitude is? It might be nice to have another opinion anyway...I am happy to have as many testers as people who are up for it! My altitude here is 7500 ft.

Thanks again, beautiful veg*ns!! :)

Quintess,

If you still need more testers, I would love to help.  I am at a "normal" elevation in the flat midwest.

my email is eval(unescape('%64%6f%63%75%6d%65%6e%74%2e%77%72%69%74%65%28%27%3c%61%20%68%72%65%66%3d%22%6d%61%69%6c%74%6f%3a%6d%69%63%68%65%6c%6c%65%40%76%65%67%61%6e%73%61%70%69%65%6e%2e%63%6f%6d%22%3e%6d%69%63%68%65%6c%6c%65%40%76%65%67%61%6e%73%61%70%69%65%6e%2e%63%6f%6d%3c%2f%61%3e%27%29%3b'))

Looking forward to it!

no its not too late! at least i don't think so. i offered to set up a private blog for recipe testers (so we had a "hub" to go to so we could see what others did, problems, etc) and its in the works. i think that is the plan of action, but q and i are both busy and playing msg tag

Definitely not too late!! I so appreciate all of the response, and am just working w/ BP to get this in the most user friendly format. I think this is what I will do....
-e-mail everyone who volunteered the recipes in word format
-everyone can respond on the blog (or if that is tricky for anyone, they can just e-mail me directly.)

I am still going to try to get them out today!! Hespedal, there is no "deadline" for the recipes to be tested, but I am planning on having my book done by the end of this month. So, within a few weeks would be ideal!!

Thanks again, everyone!!!!!! :)>>>
