lost recipe club!

hi all!  :D

i've got a new mission for the summer and thought i would see if anyone else was interested in playing. or at least others who do this can "come out of the woodwork"

i am obsessed with finding unrated and unpictured recipes on here so that i can make, rate, and photo them!

one of the nicest things about this site is the pictures-- i remember back when there was not food pics! i also notice that the recipes with pictures are the ones people want to make. this might be why many have a lot of pictures (the GT tofu comes to mind!) and others have none. i think all well loved recipes worthy of being in any kitchen should have a nice pic to go with it.

it's the summer and a lot of stuff is in season. who's with me?

(ps i found that micro button on my camera you told me about to make my pics clearer! i can't remember if it is was AK or VA who suggested that but thanks!!)

yay sounds great! that is true because i look at the pictures and i'm like man, i want to make that! i've worked on taking pictures with a camera phone and i wasn't able to open the picture from my email. my birthday is coming up soon , so maybe i'll be lucky and invest in a pretty little camera....
baypuppy, your photo's always look so cute!!! i think i'm going to make the friendly zombie cupcakes for my birthday if i don't order a cake from whole foods. by the way, i think it was keda who suggested the micro button.....(i don't mean to sound all "smart-assey, I"m correcting you). haha.

I can tell you most of my recipes are unrated, and apparently untried. RyanVeg did photograph one of my soups, bless him.
And bless you for your new mission--it's such a lift to see one of your creations rated or commented on, it's nice to know someone else tried it and liked it. I know, people try the most popular ones because, well, if they're popular they've gotta be good, but there are so many good ones on here that haven't been reviewed yet.

Dang, K2, I wish I'd found that one before the cookies I just made.  I'm adding it to my recipe box.

I'll try out as many new recipes as I can...lol.  *Is now officially poor college student*  You know I'll start with the baking!

P.s. Yabbitgirl--you're "jewelry cleaning recipe" is AMAZING.  I don't use it to clean jewelry, mainly the dirty dirty stainless steal kitchen at my job.  I've been using the baking soda method at work for about a month, and my boss has started to encourage other people to use it when cleaning.  It gets BETTER results than the stupid liquid cleaner/greasecutter/goo-disolver crap.  Thank you!

All of your pictures should be added to recipes automatically now when you upload them. However, there could have been a problem with coverting your photos to the new photo system. Or it could have been human error  :-[ b4 the system was automated. If you go to a recipe that should have a picture of yours, is it there and just not linked to from your profile? If it's not there at all, please try re-uploading it and let me know if you have any further problems.

it seems that pics would tempt people to try new things. for the unrated, i was hunting and a lot are a mess-- no wonder no one made them they either a) aren't recipes per se or b) just don't look like they would work (missing things, odd quantities or ingredients).

i think those of use who are more experience cooking/baking might want to mess with the ones we think might be usable. i did this with a rice pudding one that people were all over about-- it worked, it didn't. i tweaked it and it turned out well and i posted details about what i did so others don't get that "oh crap" feeling. for me, i enjoy trying out things but don't want to risk loosing by making something nasty. i'm gonna step out a bit and try things out a little more.

and prettyIP, thanks! i totally get what you mean. i never remember where things are anymore. its like a party here and i get people confused sometimes

i use irfanview to adjust my pics-- http://www.irfanview.com/

you can size, save in different formats, and sharpen. i have been playing around because i've been wanting to make nicer pics. it is a free program.

someone needs to cause i've eaten a good portion of them already! i like seeing new food pics each time i log on. i used to be all "waa my pic got replaced" but the stuff going up looks really good-- people are making good efforts to do attractive pics of foods!

Yeah, a lot of the pics are gorgeous.  My next lost recipe is:  http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=11962.0
Pasta with Bourbon Garlic Sauce.  I'm... intrigued, to say the least.

that does look... interesting!! i'm not a fan of booze really but we'll (you'll?) see how that turns out. i was thinking it would be funny to go through some of the sandwich recipes (well, not so much recipes but ideas for different veggie sandwich combos) and doing a mess of them by just making and unmaking sandwiches all day. perhaps not.... i would want to eat them all!!

my friend and i recently discovered a place that sells really cheap produce. now that i have some stuff in my fridge, i have been looking though the recipes and thinking....humm... what to make?

but i also have looked at my recipe box and remembered all the ones i've made before and how much i like them. if only i had a good system for rotating the foods i eat!!

I looked through the sandwich ideas, too, and was thinking the same thing.  I need to pick up some more produce, but I'm hesitant to shop like I usually do (think:  how am I going to POSSIBLY get all this stuff in the fridge?!).  I'm getting ready to close on a property that I'll be working on non-stop for a few weeks, and I don't think I'll have time or opportunity to use up everything before it goes bad.
