I'm lucky enough to grow one, so I can attest to it being tasty when fresh but dried leaf supplements are available.  Southern gardeners might have luck with it.  It is a fast grower even in poor (or saline) soil.  Medicinally, it's used for nearly everything.  The seeds purify water too.  :o  Crazy.
