I get excited about the simplest things

My mom took me shopping on Sunday for my birthday... I bought some clothes but what I'm most excited about is my grill pan/griddle. It's the perfect size for my husband and I and it has a dual purpose. On one side is the grill and the other is a griddle ~ fits perfectly onto one burner on my stove! :) So far all I've made on the grill is veggie burgers and ohhhh my they were so good. And who doesn't love those amazing grill marks?
So now I'm dying to cook everything on it! Next I was going to make herb/garlic grilled tofu. I'm seriously like a kid on Christmas morning :D What do you like to grill? Any recipes or tips you want to share?
You sound like my wife and I. We get very excited whenever we get something new for our kitchen. We always have more gadgets than we can comfortably store but that doesn't stop us from buying more.
That's too funny and you're not alone in the simple pleasures department! I bought a new blender two weeks ago and I just can't stop making smoothies!! :)
THANKS for expressing my love of grill marks! I remember pleading with my mother as a child to get me a hot dog from a particular stand in the mall because of the marks. She refused, saying they were "too expensive"--and proceeded to spend far more on a hibachi, claiming that she herself would provide the grillmarked dogs. Of course, being my mother, the hibachi was never used, and the promised hotdogs never got grilled. 20 years later it was still sitting where she had placed it when she took it out of the box. ::)
Story of my life. I still dream about a "grilled dog"--but this time it would have to be tofu...
A griddle/grill pan -- what a great gift!
I posted the fabulous dessert recipe below on an earlier string on this site that you might like to try out on your grill.
Also, was looking to get a grill pan for myself and was interested in the kind you have. What brand/make is it?
Grilled Pineapple Rings
1. Slice pineapple into thick discs, about an inch or so thick. Cut out the middle of each so you have pineapple rings.
2. Dip each ring in saucer of coconut milk so its completely covered.
3. Dip the ring in shallow plate of cinnamon sugar. Flip it over so both sides are covered.
4. Grill rings on a BBQ or grill pan.
5. Serve grilled pineapple ring in a bowl with a scoop of your favorite vanilla ice cream(vegan). Douse with Grand Marnier. (Last part is optional but really adds to the flavor.)
Ooh, a griddle pan is next on my list of things I HAVE to have. I'm glad to hear you love yours so, so much!
I love my george forman! Just perfect for me...and those grill marks are great!!!
I can absolutely relate! this weekend I bought a shiny new stainless steel mixing bowl set - with measuring cups and spoons included. it's beautiful... I'm too excited to use it...
Make some barbecued seitan for a steak or a cheesesteak.

Me too my blender is getting a real good workout this last 2 weeks. I'm glad a found a good quality one on sale because I am sure if I had bought the cheap ones the motor wold have burned out. Fave power drink right now:
1 cup ice
3 cups lite soy milk
3 cup various fruit (WF do a nice little tub that will last a week)
1/2 banana chopped
1/4 cube of soft (seitan(?)) tofu
1 tbs nutritional yeast
1 tsp flax seed
blend and enjoy!
Grilled peaches are really good.
Select firm, slightly soft peaches (I've tried white ones but I'm sure the yellow ones are great too) & halve them removing pit & place on an oiled grill rack or grill wok. Grill them for about 3-5 minutes on each side, depending on how soft they were to begin with. The peaches will have a warm & rich cinnamon taste.
Oh & the grill marks on these little babies are stellar!
i've grilled pineapple before - and they totally don't need any added sugar. they're super good on their own without the extra calories. i'd definitely try em that way before adding anything.

Ditto! I LOVE to marinate zucchini in a little olive oil & lemon juice, grill it, then sprinke sea salt amd pepper.........yum

That may be silken tofu you have there. Seitan is made out of wheat flour and usually has a meaty texture. As far as I know, it is used only as a meat substitute.. I've never known anyone to put seitan in a smoothie.

Your correct, my mistake!

it's actually Emeril's brand ~ there's a large one and small. We got it at Bed, Bath & Beyond. :) And grilled pineapple sounds awesome!
