Earth Balance

I love Earth Balance but I see there is also a prouct called Smart Balance. I know Earth Balance is widely available in Canada but does anyone know if Smart Balance is available in Canada and if so, where did you get it?

Thanks!

I checked the Smart Balance Light a few weeks ago and it had some non-vegan product in it.  I can't remember what it was now- whey or casein.  :P

Smart Balance has a vegan version, but it's called Organic.  It is vegan, and not light.  It works fairly well for baking and tastes pretty good, in that buttery way...

I still haven't bought Earth Balance, but I know most ppl here seem to prefer that - or maybe it's more waidely available.

I can only get Earth Balance at the health food store, but it tastes a lot better than anything else.

Hey operachic, you live in NYC, right? The Key Food near my apartment (East Village) just started carrying Earth Balance Soy Garden, in addition to the vegan and non-vegan Smart Balances! I finally bought EB the other day, because it's nice to get stuff from the "regular" store...it's open 24/7, after all!

I've tried the Soy Garden stuff, too.  It's not as good.

Is there a vegan spread that DOESNT have 100 calories per tablespoon? I know it has no trans fats...but really now...100? What are my other options?

Shoot. I just bought Smart Balance light after it was posted that it was vegan. I was excited when I saw it because it said "Now with flax oil" on the top. It has no whey or casein. What's the nonvegan ingredient?

I'm thinking it's okay.  I have smart balance light... it's vegan.

Cool!  I'm pretty sure I've seen Earth Balance before, but just didn't end up getting it.  Every once and a while I explore different Health Food stores, in addition to regular groceries.  I live way up in the north Bronx now and very recently bought a car...so I have to explore the nicer groceries in Westchester, maybe.  I work in Manhattan, so I've been getting the "fancier" food there on my way home from work and getting staples at the ghetto groceries near my house.  It would be nice to find ONE store nearish to my house that carries everything I would want...

Smart Balance Light has only 45 calories per tablespoon!

I just baked with Smart Balance Light for the first time and my cookies came out great.

interesting, because they say not to bake with it!  :P

then again, i use it in my carmel rolls and it works great. my roommate was dreaming for me to make her some last night  ;) i would but i'd eat them all.

Oh, I completely missed that. I used the Smart Balance Light with my ginger cookies. I usually use Earth Balance but the store didn't have any.
