i am very new to cooking so i apoligize if this is a stupid question. I want to make a recipe from the october 2005 vegetarian times (page 38). its garlicky tofu with spinach over pasta. it calls for baked tofu. i only have normal tofu, do they want me to bake it first? if so how long and at what temperature? sorry if this is stupid!!!
usually when they want "baked tofu" it is the stuff you buy that is prebaked and (usually) flavored. You could sub in any homemade baked tofu you think will be yummy. there are some recipes on here for baked tofu. you will prob want to marinate it and then bake it so it will have some flavor. find a flavor that will go with the recipe.
Yep, baked tofu is pre-baked and you can usually buy it in the stores alongside the tofu. I have however, found if it is a cooked dish (i.e. not a salad or cold dish) then regular tofu that's drained suffices just fine.
