Bad Wrap Foods

My husband has gone out of town and I want to use this time to cook everything delicious that he hates!  So far I have on the list: Brussels sprouts, lima beans, oatmeal, and sauerkraut. (Not all at once)

What is your favorite "bad wrap food"?  What would you cook if you were just cooking to please yourself?

mashed potatoes and gravy, biscuits, avocado sandwiches, stuff with Vegenaise

I know, right??  Mashed potatoes are supposed to be the ultimate crowd-pleasers, aren't they?

Absolutely on the sauerkraut!  Any dessert that does not include chocolate especially anything spicy, cinnamon, etc, curries any time of day, baked potatoes in the oven (not microwave) . . .

ha!  I often have those thoughts when N isn't around.....as oww will tell you I tend to go for noochy sauces, chickpea things, beans....as N hates all of those.

My husband supposedly hates beans too.  As if you can just write off an entire family of deliciousness. The last nooch sauce I made he said tasted like glue.

I've heard several people say nutritional yeast tastes like ground up vitamins but I LOVE it and could, and often do, sprinkle it on anything.

Mrs Base doesn't like tomatoes, mushrooms, or olives. Obviously we have never eaten pizza together. What a fucking weirdo. he also can't handle things as spicy as I cook/like. And he doesn't like horror movies. HATES them, actually. What am I going to do with him?

I thought this thread was about foods that don't taste good in wraps.  Like noodles.

Hey, one of my boys once took leftover spaghetti and ate it in a tortilla, calling it a "spaghetti burrito".  They have also done the same with Asian noodle dishes.  Now I will admit that kind of thing is usually not done when DH is home so it might fit the thread.

My hubby once told me some of his "poverty stories" from when he was a kid during the Spanish famine. He said he and some of his buddies went off for the day with the traditional Spanish snack lunch, a Vienna roll sliced with something in between (cheese, omelette, whatever you have) and this one poor kid had...boiled noodles...in his sandwich. That was all they had.

What would I make if hubby weren't around? Vegetarian pizza with black olives etc. Anything with olives. And home-made roast green Italian peppers...he hates the smell. And gazpacho.

I totally had the notion to hijack this thread and MAKE IT ABOUT foods that don't taste good in wraps, but I really can't think of anything.

I live alone, so I should't participate in this thread.  When I'm not home, the cats eat cat food.  If they knew how to cook for themselves, they could eat all the frickin' okra they wanted.  But, c'mon, okra's gross.  Boo Boo licks her own butthole, and even she won't eat okra.  ...Slimy.

The rest can be worked with, but the tomato hating would be divorce worthy material in my house.  I was so lucky that my ex the whole ten years we were together never complained about what I served.  He ate anything..trying seitan, tempeh, tofu for the first time and gobbling it up.  It was like having a human garbage disposal. I never found anything he wouldn't eat.

Most of the time I make whatever the hell I want anyway and my partner finds his own meals or eats what I make.  He is a total meat and potatoes guy but I actually got him to eat a tofu curry and vegetable dish the other night.  And he liked it!  If you knew him you would know this is a major feat!  I eat a ton of green vegetables (love love love brussels and also raw green smoothies) and lots of beans and those things he won't touch unless I slather the greens with a rich sauce.  Tempeh is another one.  Ditto for buckwheat groats or oat bran hot cereal.  But he has been eating more and more of my vegan meals.  It's hard to share a kitchen with an omnivore.  We have our own sides of the refrigerator and cupboards, our own dishes and food supplies.  I buy my own stuff and he buys his although I have bought enough to share meals with him.  Slowly he is coming around to trying my stuff, I think more out of laziness and desperation because he doesnt want to take the time to cook.  lol.

Last night I enjoyed a spicy red lentil dahl with bulgur wheat all to myself.  It was pure heaven.

I know! It makes no sense, but he dislikes mashed potatoes...and otherwise loves potatoes. He will eat them just boiled over mashed. I think it all stems from his hate of "creamy things," so he thinks he hates a lot of things, but then likes them.

eat: along with the biscuit hate, he also despises cornbread. (but loves all other bread)

I hear ya, Naturebound! WHY will the guy eat regular Spanish lentils, and yet he won't touch mussoor dahl? Not that I care, it means more for me.
I made my cauliflower and green pea curry and he eats it but I bet when I make Palak Ghobi tomorrow he'll turn up his nose.

I am actually doing this soon myself....I'm going to make split pea soup and buffalo tofu adn caulfilower and tempeh. He eats mostly what I eat (because I cook, not because he's vegan) and tries everything.

AC, what kind of weirdo doesn't like cornbread?! :o Even my youngest brother, who is the pickiest person I know (who also doesn't like mashed potatoes btw...or any potatoes that aren't deep fried) likes cornbread.  Your husband is crazy.

That's for sure! And cornbread is one of the easiest breads to make, so I don't have that option to whip together some cornbread to complete a meal. Filthy sack.

I'll trade P's dislike for mashed potatoes and cornbread for Mrs Base's dislike of tomatoes, olives, mushrooms, and horror movies. DEAL?
