Anyone tried this recipe for low sugar muffins??

Hi all

I am trying to find recipe for low sugar/or no sugar muffins. I found this one on Fat Free Recipe Website and this one uses just 2 tablepoon sugar. Has anyone else tried it before?? Does anybody know of any other muffin recipe which is sugarfree and uses whole wheat?? ;D

Whole Wheat Apple Muffins (12 muffins)

2 cups whole wheat flour
2 Tbs. sugar (may use 1/4 cup for sweeter muffins)
3 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt (or less)
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/4 cups water
1/2 cup applesauce
1 lg. apple or 2 small apples, chopped (about 1 1/2 cups)

Combine dry ingredients in large mixing bowl.  Combine water and
applesauce in another bowl.  Add apple to dry ingredients and mix
to coat apple.  Add water mixture to dry ingredients.  Mixture will
be somewhat thick.  Spoon mixture into non-stick muffin tins sprayed
with vegetable oil spray.  Bake at 425 deg. F. for about 20 minutes
or until lightly browned.  Remove from muffin tin.

You can replace the cinnamon and apple with 1 1/2 cups blueberries
for blueberry muffins.

the scone recipe i use only has 1 tb sugar in it...it isn't muffins but it's the same idea. well, breakfast like breads. do you just not want sugar or no sugar in any form (jelly, sucunat, etc)?

Ok I made them last night...I dunno what went wrong ..prolly recipe was wrong as I suspected. The muffins were not only blahhhh ( which was expected since they were low sugar ) but also they were bit hard from outside and kind of raw, wet inside.
