Official California Potluck Logisitics Thread (PLEASE READ)
Hi everyone,
As co-chair of the invitation committee for the 2009 California Potluck (aka Sconefest) I need the following info from everyone interested in attending:
Would you be available to attend on August 8th, 2009?
If not, when would you be available? Be as specific as possible and limit yourself to August, please.
I know that it's a year away, but we need to start gauging level of interest and commitment now in order to plan effectively. Otherwise, next summer will roll around and no one will know what's going on. Just trying to prevent mass chaos/anarchy/tears/hurt feelings/wasted money.

ooh! ooh! RE: prizes....
We could do a white elephant-type gift exchange...everyone who wants to participate can bring a small, inexpensive, and possibly funny/"gag" gift, and we'll exchange by means of a hat-draw...
OR, even better! We could play some kind of game and use the provided gifts as prizes! Again, you can just bring something along if you want to play.....my family did this with bingo games at the reunion, but we could probably come up with a better game...or better yet, a whole bunch of games!
i will consider it. especially now that prizes are being mentioned :p we should play clue. it never gets old (: also, i'll have to see how my mother feels about me staying with internet people. i have told her though that vegans are safe because if they cant kill animals, they probably wont kill people...er..hopefully wont kill people...

I don't know how I haven't seen this before. Can I be a tentative "yes?" I want to take a trip over the summer, but I may be buying a house at that time, so I'll have to see how finances are.

michael and i really want to go! we might set up a tour and just tour out there and then back or get plane tickets. Where is everyone staying? Could we stay with vegweb kids or would we need to find out own place to stay? how long is this? 5 days? 3?
ponycakes! if michael and i go on tour for this, you could fly down to austin and be our roadie. then, by the time we all get there, you'll know at least 2 people.

I'm sure some will stay with VWbers, some other places..we'll get that worked out. It's however long you want to stay! The actual potluck will be on the 8th. I think we're planning on staying for a few days.
i would like to say that anyone would be welcome to stay in san luis with me if they are coming to ca at a certain time... i am like a 3 hour drive to base's house. of course, i don't have a car, but of others drove or wanted to rent one or something...
