Well, there is a local ice cream shop that has a bunch of vegan ice cream and sundaes and stuff. (vegan waffle bowl sundaes with marshmallow topping!)If you guys are making a weekend of it, we should go there.

I can't believe I never made it to Maggie Mudd when I lived in SF.  :(

I was thinking about cool stuff in the area and I've decided that there is nothing uncool in the entire city.  ::)

My favorite things to do were Ferry Plaza Farmer's Market, climbing up and down the fire escape to drink wine with the neighbors into the wee hours of the morning, going to the wharf to drink coffee and watch the sea lions (with the tourists), and having picnics in Golden Gate Park.  Of course, the beach, underground comedy clubs, Chinatown (for Lucky Creation!), and Mission Street were amazing, too.  If you have the energy, the Filbert steps are beautiful but quite a workout.
(Off topic, but I saw a 1br1ba condo on Telegraph Hill near Julius' Castle for $257,000 - WTF!?!)

Sigh...How I miss the city.  :'(

I'll be LIVING there by then, silly.  :D (Well, either back in SF or in San Diego, depending upon the husband's work options.)

Oh joy! A San Francisco meet-up. Would like to try and make it.

A few suggestions too for more vegan fun in the Bay Area ...

--Colleen Patrick-Goudreau, author of The Joy of Vegan Baking, teaches a monthly cooking class at a church in nearby Oakland(easy to get to via the BART). I went to her last class on Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food and it was great. She is smart, pretty and sweet.

--Marina District in SF(easy to get to via the 30 bus, which also connects to Chinatown, North Beach, Ghiradelli Square, and downtown) has some great vegan-friendly restaurants. I like one called "lettus" I think, which labels it's vegan foods with a v and serves up vegan desserts, cookies.

--Berkeley(also easy to access via the BART train). Many vegan-friendly restaurants, coffeehouses, music stores, thrift shops near the campus along Telegraph Ave. that are lighter on your wallet than some SF places. Cool indie-artsy films at the art museum.

dinkfeet told me that meeting me was something that got one vegan points. not sure how that works, but i thought i would mention it to sway the timing in ma favor!
