Trying to find Atlanta? It's really the only thing other than peach trees worth having in this state.

I was out of the loop yesterday.
Do know where Atlanta is and have not been there in almost a decade.
To far north now.

Excuse me, ATL and surrounding people, any thoughts?

ahhh, holy crap! I just saw this thread....thanks for taking the initiative, Charliebot!

okay, so:
Here's a lengthy and link-ridden post...check out the links if You like!

The Plaza Theatre has Midnight screenings of RHPS every Friday night, and it's only $7.50 admission
I'm thinking that We could go as a group, in costume, and We can bring any of our own non-food props!

They're located on Ponce de Leon, just two blocks west of Moreland Ave....that's a quick 20 minute walk (at most) from my apartment, so I was thinking We could meet up at my place for some coffee/tea/vino/chatting/sexing-up/whatevers a few hours before, and then get in costume and head to the Plaza.
and You'd all get to meet my ratties! ...oh, and my boyfriend! hah..

A HUGE part of attending is the dressing up/audience participation....so I really hope everyone's up for a wild and rambunctious time! Things to think about:

COSTUME
Characters? Frank, Riff Raff, Magenta, Columbia, Janet, Brad (both of those are easy peasy) Rocky....or just one of the Transylvanians?
...I'm pretty sure you don't have to be totally canon with Your costumes, either. You can probably assemble something easily with thrift store finds or borrowed stuff...just look online for pics of costumes, there are plenty of sites to give You ideas.

Also, it's totally cool to just slap on a vinyl skirt and/or corset, fishnets, and slutty makeup...or basically, anything that would fit the theme....the point is to have FUN with it!

PROPS
If anyone has the following items, feel free to bring them along:
Newspaper
Watergun
Flashlight
Rubber/Latex/Vinyl gloves
Noisemakers
Playing cards and Toilet paper (that you're willing to lose)

...the Plaza forbids confetti and (outside)food items, though, so don't bother with those.

ALSO
If You're not already familiar with other participation customs, there are lots of resources that describe what You can shout out at appropriate times in the film, and of course, how to do the Time Warp!

VIRGINS
If You've never attended a screening like this before, DON'T WORRY! It's so, so much fun, and You needn't feel pressured to do anything You're not comfortable with....again, the point is to have fun!
And while many places have some sort of virgin initiation ritual, You needn't out Yourself as a virgin if You don't want to be part of it.

****

Okay, since this happens every Friday, I figure it would be easy to figure out a weekend when We could all get together and do this. Other, less formal get-togethers are certainly in order....I like the idea of hanging out and watching movies or playing cranium (fun!) or whatever, but I kinda want to get this going before it gets too cold...That way, We can all walk together in costume to the Plaza to let passers-by know what kind of fun We're getting into!

So.............What's everybody's schedules looking like?

*bump*
c'mon, folks!! let's gooo!

Does anyone have some makeup that they'd be willing to share for the costumed occasion?

Many of the characters' makeup involves a very pale base, and lots of neutral- or grey-colored shadow. And of course, plenty of black eyeliner/mascara and deep red lipstick.  ;)b
Pale foundation would do, or even some of that costume/clown makeup they sell in big box stores and pharmacies.....I have none of these things, and all the money I have right now is going toward bills (due soon, ugh) with a little left to spare for my ticket. So if any of You already have these makeup supplies, and can afford to spare a bit for the RHPS night, that would be SO very much appreciated.

Schedules, anyone??
I think all of my Friday midnights are open for a good while....

I've been meaning to respond to this...sorry CW.
I'm honestly not sure when I will be able to do this, I am working every Saturday through the end of the year.
I have to be there before 8AM... :-\
Is Friday the only night that they do this?

:'(
it appears so.... is there not a single Saturday that You could have off? or to have Your schedule pushed back for just one day?
I mean, I totally understand if You can't arrange that...You gotta do whatcha gotta do...no need to apologize.

but we can definitely all get together some other night for nintendos and nachos and whatnots....In fact, perhaps We could arrange for a little Autumn hike in or around the hilly/mountainous region before it gets too cold! We'll keep that in mind for another ATL-folk shindig, too, fo'sho.

but as for RHPS, it does happen EVERY Friday........and I know that there are die-hards that go nearly every week, so it's not like we couldn't plan for multiple outings wherein anyone could opt to go or not, depending on their schedules. So whenever You have a Saturday morning to sleep in a bit, just let Us know, and We could probably see about making that a RHPS night if You don't have other plans.

I'm not really good at dressing up. Just so everyone knows. And if I come to any of these gatherings, can I bring someone (non-veg)? I don't know anyone that it vegetarian or vegan, but meeting people from the internet...it would feel safer to have someone with me at least the first time, you know? Most of my friends are pretty cool and wouldn't mind eating veg for one afternoon/night.

CW, I'm voluntarily working all of those Saturdays...I'm trying to save up for something.
BUT, I may be able to not work one of them.  BUT, then again that's only 7 more weeks.

In either case regarding the Friday night dress up throw down, I can do just about anything on Saturday nights after 4PM.

holy crap! I didn't know YOU were a peach, too! YAAAY!
Where did You go? I live just a few blocks north of the Edgewood Marta station, and I'm in the L5 zone all the time!

Yes, the more the merrier, folks!
That includes any friends or whomever (veg or not, no matter) You want to bring along....so long as they're cool, don't cause any drama, and *preferably* don't bring any animal carcasses along...
on that note.....

Can we all agree that for our get-togethers, if there's food involved, there should be NO dead animal bits present, even for the non-veg guests?
I don't want to be a picky bitch, but I think it might be easier to set that ground rule. The non-veggies are certainly welcome to whatever the rest of us are eating.
Now, as for non-vegan stuff, if someone prefers to have an individual meal/drink/whatever that contains dairy or eggs, for instance....well, I'll leave that up to the rest of Y'all to decide.

as for dressing up, DON'T WORRY!
again, it's all about having fun. So if You have some wild, colorful, glittery, and/or semi-slutty clothing and accessories just for special occasions, go for it! Hell, You can go dressed as a space alien, a banana, or a poodle for all I (or any of the other Rocky attendees) care, just be willing to let Yourself go, and "Give Yourself Over to Absolute Pleasure!"

Yay. I like to think that the people I hang with are cool. They'll definately eat veg (they're not picky eaters).

Dressing like a slut...hm. I'll work on it.

Except for this Friday, my other Fridays are clear. For now. I'm in the pep band at school, and I'm working on getting a job. :)

I'd love to meet up with Ya'll, but Fridays are out for me, and I'm totally not into going to RHPS. Not my thing. If you guys decide to do something else, please let me know when and where! It's a 3 hour drive for me but I wouldn't mind making a weekend of it sometime.
