Yeah, I have seen it for pre-sale on Amazon! I think it comes out in October... I am excited to see what her new offerings are! (Though I still have a ton of things I haven't made yet from VWAV!)

Okay, I feel really silly saying this but I really don't like the title of the book. ::) Her other books have the coolest titles and IMO, "Veganomicon" is just goofy. Maybe I'm just lost but what exactly does that particular play on words have to do with food?
:) 99.99% sure I'll be getting it anyway, of course... :)

So I'm not the only one that found the title weird. Is it supposed to be a take off of Lovecraft's fictional book The Necronomicon, the title which he claimed came to him in a dream??? I don't really get it, but I will certainly buy it!

at the risk of sounding totally ignorant. I have NO idea what veganomonicon is supposed to mean...
If you say it fast it almost sounds like vegan American...like we are our own race of people....hummm....well VWAV was a lot of food I wasn't familiar with...maybe they are regional to New York or a particular people group (were they mostly Jewish- American?) so maybe a vegan-american book would have good old SAD foods veganized?

I came up with all kinds of things it could be including "emotionicon" ... cuz I just didn't get "Necronomicon" being at all related or even a joke... but I'm pretty sure that IS what it is... I haven't read it though so maybe that's why I'm lost :( Maybe she's just saying it's iconic in nature and will be copied or emulated in the future like The Necronomicon?? ??? I mean I haven;t read it but it's famous enough that I know about it.... ? I really am so confused about it...

WAIT I GOT IT!!
from wikipedia- "Lovecraft wrote that the title, as translated from the Greek language, meant "an image of the law of the dead": nekros - νεκρός ("dead"), nomos - νόμος ("law"), eikon - εικών ("image"). A more prosaic translation can be derived by conjugating nemo ("to consider"): "Concerning the dead". Another Greek translation can be "Law of the image of the dead"."
AH HA! So hers is "image of the law of a VEGAN" ...I like it now. Doof... wow I feel really uneducated.

Well, I would say I 'figured it out'... just read on wikipedia what the original title meant and hit myself in the head. Now it's one of those "I'll remember it forever" things... and now I feel I should read Necronomicon to make amends with logic...

I'd also recommend watching Sam Raimi's (of 'Spider Man' directing fame) 'Evil Dead' Trilogy (Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2 and Army Of Darkness). The first one is straight up scary, but the next two use a lot of comedy, and they don't have to be watched in order. Aside from Lovecraft, it's the next biggest user of the term (borrowed from Lovecraft of course) 'Necronomicon.
As it's usually potrayed, the Necronomicon is a book of forbidden knowledge, secrets long lost yet essential to the workings of the universe. Revelations about the true nature of good, evil, time space and what lies beyond. To know is insanity.
So basically, we're getting vegan recipes that you'll be crazy about. :D

Oh, how did I miss this thread? I preodered it and can not wait. I was just checking our theppk.com and I think that I am going to make the snobby joes from veganomicon tonight. I can not wait to get the book. I love VWAV! Except- has anyone made the PB cookies? They were so nasty! But out of all the recipes that I have tried from VWAV one bad one is not bad. I love ISA she is a nice little Jewish veg girl like me.
