Really poorly foal

My friends mare had her baby on wednesday at 4.15pm, the foal was still in the bag, and when my friend ( Sue ) tore open the bag, the foal wasn't breathing. She gave him mouth to mouth resusitation and after what seemed like a lifetime, he eventually took his first breath. A  vet was called and basically did nothing, just told us to phone her in 8 hrs if the foal hadn't started to suckle from his mom. ( He didn't have a suck reflex ). After a couple of hours he still hadn't had his first drink from the milk bar, so we phoned another vet who came out and gave him his much needed collostrum. The vet then came out again an hour later and gave him another 300ml of collostrum and referred him to an equine hospital.
He was put into intensive care and the surgeons ran tests and found out that he had Hypoxia, a brain dysfunction caused by lack of oxygen. Because of the disfunction, hes doesn't know his mom, he doesn't know how to suckle, in fact hes really away with the fairies ( the drugs hes on helps with that as well ). But hes suffered seizures, and at 4pm today the only thing left to do was to increase his fluid intake, and reduce the drugs, hes on his own now, and I'm really willing him to fight to stay with us. The surgeon won't get in touch unless its bad news, so we're prsying we don't hear anything until we have to phone tomorrow at 10am. If he does start going downhill he will be PTS so that it isn't prolonged.
Please keep your fingers crossed for him, hes so gorgeous and we just want mom to come back home with him. :'(

SENDING LOVE YOUR WAY!!!

I hope the little guy makes it  :(

Yeah hes called Miracle, the only thing that came into the owners head when the vet asked for a name. Still no news, so we're taking as good. God its sooo scary everytime the bloody phone rings, and it like a hot line, typical.

Sending lots of positive thoughts and love to the little fella.  Can you picture him frolicking with his mama out in the paddock in just a few short weeks?  Keep that image in your head, along with him growing up strong and beautiful... abd he will.  Thoughts become things....so choose great ones!  :)

What color is he?  Breed?  Markings?  I'll picture him playing with mama, too, and growing up handsome and fine!

A little update for you. Hes had no more fits through the night and his sleep pattern is looking more normal. Hes still not aware of anything and the nxt 48hrs are crucial for him. Still not going to the milk bar for a drink and the surgeon doesn't think he will, so we are aiming to bottle feed. We're just hoping his little brain wakes up.

Hes a Welsh Mountain pony, and was born black with a white 'funky' stripe down his face and two little white socks on his hind legs. He will turn grey tho' , hes going grey already around his eyes and on his back legs. His mom is light grey ( white ) and in her natural state, with a long mane and tail.
Thanks for thinking of him, I just pray that hes going to come home.
