NVR: cats in sinks

I thought cat lovers might like this...Cats in Sinks:

after reading this thread:

me: baby, can we get a kitten?
so: no.
me: please?
so: no!
me: why not?
so: because. why do you want one?
me: they're sooooo cute!
so: are you looking at pictures of kittens?
me: ... yes...
so: d**n it! no! don't!

I feel your pain, cute thing! I have promised DH at least 5 cat-free yrs...that was before I saw a black kitty on the street (not feral), real black, not dark brown as many "black" cats are here. He was sweet...but I gave DH my word. And then there's the budgie to consider, too...so all I could do was pray that kitty would find a loving home. Sigh.

5 years for me, too! Pretty much "until we figure out where we're going to settle down." It's a constant debate. I even try to mix it up;

"Can we have babies?"*
"Don't be ridiculous."
"But babies are so cute!"
*sigh*
"Okay then, what about a kitten?"
"No."

*Neither of us actually wants children for quite some time, if ever. So this is probably a really transparent question.

I live in the city, so there are a lot of stray kitties around here. Some of them are looked after (fed, taken to the vet, given love), but a lot of them aren't. There are a lot of nasty people out there who will hurt stray cats. Whenever there's a new litter of kittens, I do my best to round them up and take them to the shelter. Kittens are always adopted, and the shelters around here do extensive background checks before letting people adopt. It's so heartbreaking having to do it, but in the end it's better for everyone.

It troubles me that people here still believe a cat or dog "has" to be allowed to run around free. Just the other day I saw a beautiful cat, collar attached, doing the rounds; and dogs that their owners just open the building door and let them out till evening time. They think this is "normal" and "necessary"--meanwhile Fido or Bootsie runs the risk of getting hit by a car, attacked by a large dog (oh, and even if they do take thier dogs out themselves, the owner drapes the leash around his own neck and lets dog run loose), deposit faeces far and wide wherever the mood takes them--and of course get impregnated/impregnate any in season females around. What? Neuter an animal? "That's so cruel, you might as well have them put to sleep!" >:(

Yeah, B.S. Our local spca rocks. They do free, or very inexpensive spaying/neutering for strays. If we can get hold of mommy cats and toms we bring them in post haste. Mommy cats are so tough to catch, unfortunately. But we still try.

Jessesmum...my twin just asked me tonight if we wanted to try to dress our older cat up for Halloween so we could take a picture.  She saw a Princess Lea costume for small dogs at Target that she loved.  It think it will take both of us to get Poo in it but man will it be worth it.  Mini braided hair buns and all.  :D

Oh please take a picture of her to show us.  ;D

CYETS, that's my favourite kind of cat, white on the bottom and black on the top! We always called them "Welsh cats" when I was little...not sure why.

This is my little brother Smokey trying on his halloween costume--he really likes wearing clothes--it's kind of weird!
