My cat is dead

A few days ago my dad bought some stray cats from work home, a family of four. Well about three days ago one cat left and hasn't been seen since. And today when I went to put my dog out I saw the other three in the drive near my car. I went closer to say hello when I noticed the black cat lying on top of the really little kitten. I thought she was sleeeping and tried to wake her up when I noticed her eyes were open. Then she wasnt breathing. She was sneezing a little but I didn't think she would die. I'm just really sad right now.

Think I will wrap her in  a blanket and bury her in a small hole in the yard.

I'm so sorry LZ.  :'(  Maybe they felt loved and wanted that you were trying to care for them.  So sad they were sick.  *hugs*

I'm sorry to hear that. My beloved kitty of 12 years died 2 years ago and I'm still not over it. So sad. At least there are some other babies for you to shower affection on.
Cheers,

So, I texted what happened to my dad and he said a neighbor dog did it. >:( We have had issues with dangerous neighbor dogs in the past and I am fed up! I thought it was suspicious that my cat would just up and die when she was fine last night. I knew I should have shut the screen door befor I went to bed (they stay on the porch).

The other little cat is lying on top of the dead one still and  I don't think she's moved at all since it happened. She probably doesn't understand that the other cat is dead :'(. I don't want to separate them myself, I want the cat to leave the dead one when she's ready.

That is so sad, and I am terribly sorry for your loss. It is good, however, good that your kitty had somebody that loved her. I think the burial is a very sweet idea.

Oh what a sad story. How touching and also sad that the black one is still "taking care" of the little one. :( Very fortunate that the little one had its littermates and such caring humans to love her for the short time it was with us.

I'm sorry, ledzep...Animal friends are so precious, and it hurts so much to let them go...seems like they're never with us long enough. Did she have any favorite blankets/toys/affects that you could let her have to keep in her permanent earth-bed?

When I buried my little Zumi last spring (after keeping her frozen until the ground thawed, since February!), I made a burial shroud-type thing out of her soft fleecy blanket, which I used to let her chew up/make bedding from. Maybe you could sew on a patch with her name and date of death?
just a thought.
our death and burial ceremonies are so strange and fantastic when you think about it.....they help us to cope and remember our lost ones better, so make it personal, whatever she would have liked.

Thanks guys. It seems so surreal. The cat was totally fine last night then this morning dead. My dad buried her. I wanted to put some flowers with her, but I guess I could do some sort of ceremony for her. But in a few days when I've calmed down and know how the other cats are dealing.
