I'm having babies!!!!

Just thought I would share that my darling doggie Tilly (she's a Jack Russell) is currently in labour!  She has had three so far (one was stillborn  :'( ) but the other two are doing well and are divinely cute!

I will try to post pics at a later date (not of the birth though!)

*shrug*  I think the slimey mess of newborn animals is beautiful...but I guess I'm kinda weird...

Jack Russells are such cute doggies...I can't wait to see the photos!
Congrats, Tilly!

UPDATE:  The two pups are fine, just suckling and squeaking away while Tilly fusses proudly over them.  We have a bit of a problem though, it feels like there could still be another one inside (her tummy is still big and we thought we could feel one earlier).  This is now many hours since her last birth.  We are not sure what to do, and we can't pick her up or move her to check.  Our vet told us a while ago about a dog (a Rottie) that was in labour for three days, giving birth to 16 pups!  But I am still really worried about her as there may be complications.. :(

Can you feel anything moving in her abdomen area?  Are you thinking another still birth?  I don't know about pregnant animals, but I'd take your cues from her.  Does she appear to be in discomfort?

She seems quite content just looking after her other two.  I think maybe there may be a couple more that are stillborn but they are not coming out.  Its weird though because she had contractions at 4 hours ago but nothing eventuated.  I'm just worried that she will get sick if they stay inside.  My greatest fear is that something will go wrong with her.

Is your vet's office open on Saturday?  Could you call and ask?  If not, do they have an after hours message service to contact them so they could give you guidance?

UPDATE

Miss Tilly gave birth to another three pups a few hours ago, one was stillborn though (this was 10.5 hours after her first labour!)  We were a bit worried when she suddenly had the last three.  One looked like he wasn't going to make it so I was frantically massaging him to get him breathing.  But all is well now.  So she now has four happy, healthy pups (two boys and two girls).  They are soooo cute!
We just hope that there aren't anymore in there!  She is only a tiny dog so it was amazing she had so many.

Hespedal, we do intend for her to get desexed.  My mum and I did not want her to have pups at all, but my sexist stepfather has some stupid theory about it 'making her a better dog'.  We did have on the doggie Pill (which has been effective in the past for our other girls) but unfortunately it did not work this time.  Rest assured, she will be desexed later.

I will try to post pics soon! :)

Actually, my parents have the sweetest Cocker Spaniel, and while she's been spoiled her entire life, she became so much sweeter when she had puppies. Instead of just being a princess (don't worry, she still is!), she also became this very caring, nurturing animal. It was kind of amazing. She just has so much care and concern for everyone now since she had her litter a few years ago.

I don't think it would make a drastic change in, say, an unfriendly dog... but in that instance it did seem to give Cookie a sweeter and more mommy-like disposition.

I can't wait to see your pictures! I remember how adorable those Cocker Spaniel puppies were, and I'm sure teeny Jack Russels are awesome! Is the daddy doggie known?

Thanks for kind words all of you guys.  I was totally stressing out yesterday.  Its morning here, and all the pups and mumma Tilly are doing fine. We were so worried that the last two were not going to make it but now they feeding well and looking healthy.
Poor Tilly though, its Sunday and thats the day all the dogs go to the lake for a run and swim.  So when we called them all, she actually came running out ready to go, but within a few seconds she realized and went running back to the pups!

We actually have another girl dog, Greta (in my profile pic) and she is the mother of Hamish who is the father (a very fine looking J.R).  Last night, we found her in the cupboard sitting with Tilly, licking the pups.  So cute, she is being a helpful Grandma!

I will post pics of all of them when I get a hold of the camera..

Hey guys, I have been trying to upload some pics but its not working because I think they are too big..  Anyone know how I can fix this?

1.  You can go open the photos with the free picture editor that comes with your computer and change the size there.
2.  You can upload them to photobucket, flickr, picassa, etc... and then copy the url address
3.  Shoot.  I had a third and I forgot it.
