How do you dispose of your cat's poop? NVR

When I clean the litter box, I generally scoop everything into a plastic grocery bag, tie it, and stick it in the trash. This is no good! I am using so many plastic bags! There has to be a better way. What do you do? I have heard that a flushable kind of cat litter exists. Has anyone heard of it? Or, does anyone use it?

Wow.  A friend just voiced this dilemma to me a couple days ago!  He talked about flushing it, but I don't know what he decided to do though. Sorry I'm no help. :-\

I use Feline Pine.....(er....I mean the Kitties do) :o Since I live out in the country, the litter and poop just goes out into the woods to decompose on its own.

I believe you're in the city right? If that is the case you can try this stuff: http://www.worldsbestcatlitter.com/
It's made from corn and is flushable.
Hope that helps.

I used to flush the cats litter.  We bought flushable litter at the grocery store, you just have to read the back of the packages, i would certainly rather order something organic and higher quality though because sometimes the litter would mess up the toilet.  eek.

Just don't flush the not expressly flushable stuff.  You don't want that plumber's bill.  :)

I use pine pellets & scoop the poop, then flush it. The pellets will break down from the cat pee & when they do, it gets dumped in the yard. We love this stuff. It smells great, the cat doesn't track it. Compared to traditional litter, this stuff is very reasonable.

I use this too but found that some of it stuck to the sides of the toilet and I could never get it out. Its like it cemented itself there! We moved so now its someone else's problem, but I don't flush it any more. My cat poops on the rug by her box, so I just scoop it and flush it down the toilet. The pee I do the same thing as the poster.....bag it and toss it. I don't really like to do this either!

I used to do the individual baggie thing, but it became such a pain because I had to walk all the way to our complex dumpster whenever I had to clean the litter boxes, and I got lazy and wouldn't clean them as often. I HIGHLY recommend World's Best Cat Litter. Since we made the switch, I clean the boxes at least once a day because it's so  easy to clean--the kitties appreciate a clean box :)  I haven't had any problems with "cementing" that little2ant talked about with Swheat scoop. It clumps really well, too. To prevent sticking on the bottom, first spray the bottom with cooking oil (or wipe some on with a paper towel)--seriously, I NEVER have a litter sticking problem anymore. Then, throw in some baking soda, top with the litter, and ta da! Earth-friendly litter box!

After a while, I get a sort of 'film' on my toilet bowl from it, but I think I just need to clean my toilet more  :-[

I use World's Best, too. No problems.

There's actually a litter box out there that will hook into your plumbing system. It works just like a toilet. The box only looks like a litterbox and has some litter in it to "fool" the cat. But, mainly it's a cat "toilet." The cat goes. The box sensors know when the cat has left the box. And it flushes automatically. No mess, no litter, no plastic bags, no clean up.

It also costs $300.00.  :o

Before that, I used to dump in my neighbor's yard. Because HIS dogs would run loose and go all over my yard. So, this was my form of revenge on him. Expresely asking him to pick up after his dogs never worked.

But, I understand, you might have nice neighbors and this won't work for you. ;)

I have read about cat box liners that are biodegradable.  I will have to find out where they are or the article, but I plan on buying them.

Wouldn't you go through TONS of litter if you were throwing it all away with the liner?  :o

I also use feline pine.  On the older bags, it says it is flushable, but on the newer ones it doesn't say it anymore, but it also doesn't say not to flush it.  I have been flushing it, and my plumbing hasn't had a problem.

My kitties use Feline Pine.  When we are no longer living in a condo I will compost it outside.  But for now, I simply slip a 13 gallon trash bag over the box, fill it and then wait 2 weeks.  To change it I simply turn the bag inside out and toss it in the dumpster.
