GRUNDEN is his name!

Well today I get to visit "GRUNDEN" at my vet's house (he's still being dewormed)! He'll be very happy to now have a name (he probably had a name, but he would not tell me it, so I guess he did not like it). I have a "strong" suspicion that his "nick name" will end up being "CAPTIAN BEEFPAWS" or" CB" for short!

Thanks to all of you for voting and submitting names!

Grunden "Captain Beefpaws" ........? (fill in your last name here) thanks you! Now who wants a really great sweet dog?....I promise (personally guarantee) that he will love you forever!

A Grunden by any other name would still be as sweet. . .I wasn't expecting it to, but now that it's his name--it fits him well. Give Grunden a nuzzle from me when you see him.  :)

Yay Grunden!!!

A few ppl in my Kennel Club up here deal with GSD rescue..Ill spread the word. Did your vet give u an idea of his age (I may have missed it).

If you ever find yourself w/ a rottweiler let me know. I have a vast amount of Rottweiler Rescue contacts all over the USA.

ok, so I don't mean to burst everyone's bubble, but "grunden" is not a German word.  I think whoever discovered it meant "gründen."  This, however, means to found as in to start something, not "I found him."

The proper word for "to find" is "finden."  To say "I found him" you would say "ich habe ihn gefunden"  Or to say "he found me," it would be "er hat mich gefunden"

So yeah....maybe I should have posted this early, or maybe the made-up word "Grunden" really suits him.  It certainly sounds German-ish anyway.

I was pretty sure that it was gründen,(that was a copy/paste) but, I don't have that u on my keyboard! Maybe there's more to him than we have yet to see. . .he could live up to his name. . .he's certainly stirring some hearts here  :)  I don't really know what I'm trying to say, but, maybe . . .

Whoever adopts him may end up calling him another name. If I can't find a great home for him, he can stay with me as long as he wants....I'm sure Grunden will end up being Grund...then G- man....then Captin Grunny...then finally some kind of "sound" nick name like &#KFNDKJJDE?!  :D

Oh majicka414,
I'd say he'a about a year and a half (looking at his teeth).

I think he wants to move in with you! The kids would LOVE him! And you can feed him a raw diet and keep lots of raw food in your freezer! ;)

Dave ONLY has 12 dogs and one cat.  I can't seem to keep up with the Davedrums!  I'd have to get 3 more critters just to tie!!!!  ;D ;D ;D

Yay Grunden! German or not, I think it fits.

I want a German Sheperd... stupid "5 lb limit" on dormitory pets... :P If I lived back home, I'd totally take him.

Hehehe... we're allowed most rodents, fish, and maybe a few others, perhaps a lizard or two. Snakes, rabbits, and ferrets (and therefore, any combination thereof :D :D :D) are strictly forbidden, due to scare-factor and stench. :P

Ashley, you're correct - I found the name on the web but didn't know how to include those little dots over the "u".  ;D  I found a German-English dictionary and typed in "found" - and Grunden (with the little dots over the "u") is what came up.

I still think Grunden fits him well!  :)

Update!
I just got a call from my vet and one of her patients wants to adopt Grunden "Captain Beefpaws" (Fill In Last Name). I am going to be talking to the couple tomorrow, and hopefully I'll have time to meet them in the afternoon or evening. According to my vet they are great people that already have 2 other rescued German Shepherds. She said they loved him, and more important he really seemed to love them. So.....another happy ending for a dog that happened to walk up to my house!....I guess he picked the right house :)

YAY! Are they keeping his name, after all the trouble "we" went to in order to give it to him?

Actually I think I will print out the posts by all of us and give it to them (his new mom and dad). I know that the people I always adopt a dog to will usually ask, and want to know, where the dog was found and as much general info as  possible about he or she. I think all that we did is part of his story, so I'll provide them with the story of how he got his name! :)

Yay!  I'm so happy he might have found a wonderful home.  What a lucky pooch!  :)

What lucky people to get a wonderful boy like him. Rescue dogs are always the best pets. They just know how lucky they are and
always want to show it. You can just see it in his eyes.
