Bella is having a sleepover at the vet's ~ NVR

My wonderfully beautiful doggie got sick somehow.  I came home from work and there were no hello puppy kisses, no wagging tail....only Bella in so much pain that she couldn't even walk.  I had to carry her and even that hurt her poor little stomach.  :(

I took her to her (wonderful) vet and now she is staying the night.  Something about asperitic (sp?) pneumonia, dehydration, a fever, and a GI problem.  I cried for like 4 hours and I don't even want to go home because I know she isn't there.  :'(

You did the right thing taking he to the doggie doctor! She'll be OK soon and before you know it, she'll be kissing you once again!!!

oh no!  I know how scary that can be, but Capture's right--she's in good hands, and she's got a good mom that she'll be happy to come home to soon enough.  *hugs*

Thanks guys!  Today has been hard for me.  I know she is in good hands, but that doesn't help me from thinking I could have stopped her from getting sick.  *sigh*  I think I'll feel better in the morning after I talk to the vet.

Poor Bella! And poor you! Kipling was right, in his poem "The Power of the Dog"--our furries can rip our hearts right out of our chests without even leaving a mark!  :'( :'(

Good vibes and prayers coming your way, for both of you

Sorry Bella is going through that right now. I'm sure she's in good hands and will get through it. Such is the life of a rescue dog sometimes.....they're often (and usually) born to mom's that ate a poor diet and had compromised immune systems, etc. They end up being born with compromised immune systems themselves...making it hard at the beginning to fight off infections and such....but from everything you posted about what you feed, and how you're caring for her....I'm sure she will grow to be a very healthy and vibrant young lady! Keep us posted on her progress!

Argh!  She has been committed to solitary confinement at the vet's because she was exhibiting signs of distemper.  I don't know what to do...I am freaking out.  If she has it; then I basically killed my puppy because I only got her one round of vaccinations.  I looked it up...there is no cure.

Don't panic yet! Like parvo, distemper can be fatal, BUT if caught in time and treated with intravenous fluids and nursing care, she may yet pull through! You did the right thing getting her to the vet as soon as possible.
Prayers on the way!

Could it just be her showing signs of distemper from the vaccine? I have had many dogs come down with the very things they were vaccinated for when I first rescued them. One round of shots will and should protect her. Have you asked the vet if she has tested positive for distemper yet? (I do hope she actually tested her).....

Her vaccine was like 4 months ago.  I am just freaking out.  I love my furkid and couldn't imagine life without her!  The vet sent out for that test today.  Hopefully we'll know by tomorrow.  I took a personal day today to spend it with her and brought her elephant toy and her own food from home.  I have to work in the morning, but my DH will be visiting her....and then me in the afternoon; along with phone calls in the morning.

I'm so sorry Bella is not feeling well. That makes me sad and I cant even imagine how scared you feel. I bet she feels better with her things there. Keep in mind that vets have to be extremely cautious...they have the liability of the other animals to think about...so they are probally just being super careful about exposing her to the others. I'm sure she is okay. You just cant blame yourself though- no matter what. I'm sending positive thoughts your way and Bella's way. :-*

Fasting and letting her get it out of her system is usually best. Nothing but fluids (organic chicken broth would be good).....

They let me take her home today.  Her temp was 102.5.  I'm supposed to call the vet if it gets to 103.8...its now at 103.2

OK...we've had her home since 3:30pm.  If it goes up anymore, I'll give her a cool bath.  She is really worn out and laying down sleeping.  She is eating a bit which is an improvement.  I'll pick up some broth though.  We did just have to give her her medicine which might have freaked her out a bit.
