ANIMAL petitions to sign - ALL animals
How about a joint continuing topic where we can all post ANIMAL related activism petitions for others to sign?

POLAR BEARS:
Most people are aware of the threats facing polar bears due to
climate change. However, polar bear populations are also at risk
due to hunting. In 1994, Congress passed a law allowing the
importation of polar bears into the U.S. as trophies. Since
then, over 800 polar bear trophies have been imported by U.S.
sport hunters.
The Inslee-LoBiondo Amendment to the Interior Appropriations
bill would restrict the use of funds for the U.S. Fish and
Wildlife Service to issue the necessary permits for the
importation of sport hunted polar bear trophies, thereby
discouraging trophy hunters from killing polar bears because
they couldn't bring the heads and hides into the United States.
Please contact your U.S. Representative today and ask them vote
yes on this Amendment. It will only take a minute. Here is the

Counter the Lies and Help Save Southwest Wolves
Just 59 southwest wolves now remain, and some in Congress want to end federal efforts to save them.
An amendment expected to be offered by Representative Steve Pearce (NM) and would eliminate funding for southwest wolf recovery -- completely ending the program and dooming the wolves to extinction.
Help save these rare and beautiful animals.

I have a point to make since I used to live in Alaska and I work in the oil and gas industry, I know some stuff you'all might find interesting.
Polar Bear hunting is illegal in Alaska.
There is a HUGE area of land set aside in the North Slope of Alaska called the National Petroleum Reserve, it is millions of acres of land and it is located EAST, but ANWR (Arctic National Wildlife Refuge) is located to the West. Only a tiny part of the National Petroleum Reserve has been tapped. Connoco Phillips is the company I talked to about this. They have no desire to drill in ANWR because the oil quality, as you move west across the North Slope gets thicker, more like tar, and is harder to refine. As you move East, the oil gets lighter, more like gasoline, easier to refine. So my point is, there is absolutely no reason to drill in ANWR, in fact, it is a setback. I think the ANWR thing is politicians getting greedy. Definitely go against drilling in ANWR, it is completely pointless. Drill the National Petroleum Reserve, that is what it the land has been set aside for anyway.
