Happy Cinco de Mayo! It's almost the 5th of May, and it's time to live it up! Cinco de Mayo isn't Mexican Independence Day; it's actually an unofficial holiday that celebrates the Mexican victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla. While Cinco de Mayo has limited significance nationwide in Mexico, the date is heavily observed in the United States. How is it observed, exactly? Oh, just with eating, drinking, and dancing in the streets until all hours.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! Vegan Ice Cream, that is! Unfortunately, there aren't nearly enough vegan varieties to go around. But fear not, VegWebbers, we have you covered when it comes to summer's favorite cold treat. And summer is almost here -- thank goodness. I'm ready for long days on the beach, leisurely picnics with friends -- and, of course, plenty of delicious ice cream!

What is the meaning of life? Is there life on other planets? Why is brunch the best meal? These are questions we may never know the answers to. Okay, I'll take a guess on the brunch one. It's something that usually happens on weekends (yay!), after having slept in (yay!) and involves combining the best of the best from both breakfast and lunch (yay!).

Indian food, Japanese food, and Thai food—what do they all have in common? Well, besides being delicious, all three cuisines rely heavily on curries to round out their repertoires! Before I went vegan, I had no idea so many crazy sexy curries existed. Some people complain that veganism limits their cooking and eating selections. I cry malarkey! For me, going vegan did just the opposite.

Although I didn't grow up in a religious family, Easter was always a favorite holiday. That's because it meant candy. Loads and loads of candy. Easter egg hunts, candy baskets, and chocolate bunnies. Becoming vegan doesn't mean giving up all those delightful treats, it just means getting more creative. In addition to making (and eating!) all manners of delicious candies, you can get creative with Easter breads and dishes. And what of Passover?

Seitan was one of the first foods that I seriously loved as a vegan. What other meat analogue is as savory, chewy, and, well, meaty? Seitan is the perfect addition to most any dish (except for a chocolate cake but you know) and is surprisingly easy to make. If you're nervous about experimenting with it, don't be. We have a million variations on VegWeb.

Coconuts are pretty amazing. You can make everything from ice cream to curry with their magical goodness. In the winter months, they're especially appealing because who doesn't want a break from the cold? Living in perpetually chilly San Francisco, I can at least pretend I'm not wearing two sweaters by cranking up the heat and making some of the delicious coconut recipes on VegWeb.

I'm about to make a bold statement. Indian food might be my most favorite cuisine.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Awards show season. I love it because if there's one thing I like more than eating delicious vegan food, it is making fun of insane outfits. The Grammy's are probably the best for this (please see: Bjork's swan dress), but the Oscars never fail to disappoint. There is always at least one coo-coo bananas 'fit in the bunch. Plus, it's equally entertaining to salivate over all the gorgeous gowns that you need to own. I usually tune out before the actual ceremony because it's bo-ring...

Now that you've OD'ed on chocolate and conversation hearts, let's get the sugar out of our systems with some healthy eats! Of course, since this is VegWeb, that doesn't mean boring, bland, or tasteless. Instead, it's incredible whole foods that fill you up and don't give you the sugar shakes! Which, granted, are very delicious, but not practical for every day living.

Let's dive in to rich soups and crisp salads. Oooh, and curry! And pizza! Who else is starving?? Let's get busy.
